"How was Raven's?"

My mother asked while I was fixing myself dinner. "It was, fine?"

"Just fine?"

"Uh huh."

I stare at my mom from the video call; her auburn hair was pulled in a messy bun and a few locks sticking out. "Did something happen?"

Sometimes it's a good thing that she's on the other side of the world. She can't press me into telling her things; she's good at that, sometimes I wonder if my mother used to work as an interrogator.

"Nothing happened mom; no one was even at Raven's today."

"Are you su- -"My mom was cut off by someone talking in the background. I think it was urgent because she became frantic and began to search for something.

"Bye mom, talk to you again real soon." I bid my goodbye but she didn't even hear it, I think.

Taking that as my cue that my talk with my mom is over, I waved my goodbye and kissed my laptop's screen and pressed the end call button.
