The birds chirped loudly and the subtle breeze blew through the air and between the leaves of the trees. The sun had just arose, dawning the land.
Peter was still asleep but Esmeralda had awoken. Now she didn't really want to wake up this early but if it wasn't for that stupid bug that attacked her face then she'd still be asleep. There wasn't any food nearby but a river was close by. She decided that once Peter had woken up then they'd take a short walk to it. Maybe they could catch a few fish for breakfast.
She was still really concerned from what happened to Peter yesterday. He had drank a potion from a man who was using dark magic in the market. She didn't really know how it'd be affecting Peter but she could question him properly today. Hopefully he felt better!
She had rolled up her sleeping bag and shoved it into her backpack. Since she bought many things from the market yesterday before Peter's ''little incident''. She had gotten many supplies besides food because even in her world. Doing a bit of food purchasing was expensive!
Eventually Peter woke up. His eyes had changed back to dark brown. He had stood up from his sleeping bag before looking around. "Where-where are we?" He asked whilst stretching his back from being on the uncomfortable ground.
"Forest," Esmeralda replied as she grabbed and shoved his sleeping bag into her backpack. "You had a near fatal incident yesterday! Thank the heavens you're still alive!" She sighed gratefully.
Peters eyes widened. "Yeahhhh!" He dragged the word. "I kind of passed out. You probably had to carry me all the way here." He chuckled.
"Drag not carry!" She corrected. "You are too heavy. Now come on we gotta go to the river!"
"River?" Peter followed her as she paced forward. "For what?"
She swatted branches out of the way and stepped over huge logs. "Food!"
"Mhm" he nodded. "So uhh- what was that thing I drank yesterday?"
"I was about to ask you that exact question, Peter!" Esmeralda glanced at him. "You drank something made with dark magic. I don't know what effects it had on your body, or your powers."
"I felt Soo dizzy. It was awful and I kept having flashbacks!" He paused before looking onward and muttering. "Bad flashbacks."
"Hmm." She stopped. "I don't think it was too bad! Maybe the man just wanted to show you your past so you could figure out your future." She thought more about the few words Peter said. "Or maybe not, I mean this is dark magic we're talking about."
"So you don't know what he did to me?" Peter stood besides her whilst he waited for an answer.
"I don't deal with dark magic. The idea of it scares me. I only know so much. My magic isn't spawned from the darkness." She looked up at him before proceeding to walk forward.
"So I'm still me?" He wondered whilst following her towards the upcoming river.
Once they reached the river. She pulled out a fishing rod and picked up a worm she had seen on the ground. Peter mimicked barfing as she touched the disgusting worm. "Want to give it a shot?" She asked him. "Fishing?"
He shook his head. "No, I think I'll stick to the things I know!" She shrugged at his response and threw the rods line into the water. Almost instantly she caught a big enough fish to feed the both of them.
After reeling it in she began to scale, gut and clean it with her pocket knife. Whilst she did that Peter searched for dry wood to start a fire. [We didn't start the firee♪♪♪]

After they finished eating. Esmeralda told Peter that they'd have to head to go down the river if that wanted to get to the palace sooner. He agreed.
They used the leftover logs Peter had found to build a makeshift raft so they could sail down the river.
"Why don't you just teleport us?" Peter asked her. "Can't you do that?"
"Uhh- let me try. My powers are still a bit difficult to control." She held Peter's hand and closed her eyes.
"Wait!" Peter exclaimed. He let go of her hand and grabbed the raft. "You never know if this teleporting thing of yours might go South." He held her hand again there after. "Ready!" He smiled, in which she rolled her eyes in return.
"Wait-," Peter shouted. She groaned. "NOO! STOP IT! I'm trying to concentrate so we can get to the palace without any obstacles!"
"Oh sorry." He smiled awkwardly.
Esmeralda closed her eyes. She focused on picturing the image of the palace, it was fuzzy. The floors of the palace entrance glistened. The walls were high and wide. A huge chandelier hung from the ceiling which had carvings of floral designs, but the image shifted repetitively back and forth between the river and back to the palace. From scenes of marble floors and high stone walls to the rushing waters.
The same heat like sensation rushed through Peter. The emerald aura illuminated off of her once more. And with a flash they were in the vibrant waters of the river?
Peter opened his eyes. They were both soaking wet from the waist down. The raft floated nearby them.
"I thought you were concentrating on the palace?" Peter struggled against the rushing waters.
"Well, clearly I wasn't concentrating properly!" Esmeralda murmured.
Peter swam towards the raft. He grabbed it. "Quickly! Climb on!" He called.
"I'm - I can't swim!" Esmeralda replied.
"You can't swim?" Peter tought about what he should do for a few seconds. He looked towards the end of the river. The water was falling downwards. His eyes widened in terror. It was a waterfall. "Esmeralda you better get towards the raft!" He demanded. "If I let go of it then we won't have anything to break our fall going down the waterfall."
"Waterfall?" She looked towards the end of the river. "Oh waterfall!" She stated before realising what that meant. "Oh! WATERFALL!!"
She battled against the rushing current of the river to try and swim towards Peter but that didn't work. Her leg got entangled by an anacharis plant at the bottom of the river. She had gotten submerged beneath the current. She struggled.
"Esmeralda!" Peter called. He let go of the raft, took a deep breath and went under the water. He swam towards her. He untangled her leg and wrapped his arm around her before bringing them both back to the surface.
"Hey" She smiled in an embarrassment.
"Hey," he sneered. "Don't smile at me you literally almost killed yourself!" He teased.
They both laughed but neither realised that they were at the rivers end and now reached the waterfall. They both clung to each other, screaming as they fell down the waterfall. Before they could plummet into the water below the same sensation of heat and glowing aura radiated off of Esmeralda and with a huge flash. They were now in the palace.
Peter looked around. "We're-we're not dead?" He choked due to the huge amount of water he had gulped during the fall.
"Guess I concentrate better under stress." Esmeralda mumbled. "Time to find the Esmera Tungsten!" She smirked.
