Clawstrike quietly walked through the territory, she had always liked walking across the beach. It helped clear her head. As Clawstrike padded through the territory, her thoughts began to wander. Mainly worrying for her mentor started to prickle through her pelt. Everyone was anxious for them, but Boragewisp seemed one of the most nervous out of all of them. And everyone in the Clan knew that Boragewisp despises Amberbite.
As Clawstrike sighed once more and leaped onto a rock, thinking that jumping and running could help either clearing her thoughts or making them louder so she could concentrate on them. Honestly it was nice. She leaped onto another rock, and another, and another. Her paws landing each time on the cold, wet dark surface of the rocks that were out by the shore. The waves lapped at the rocks, making them cold and wet. Clawstrike still managed to cling onto the rocks with ease and walked out to the farthest one so she could sit down and stare at the ocean. The wind ruffling against her fur.
Amberbite really liked Clawstrike and seemed to have a connection with her. Some even say that they have a parent's love and care for her. Clawstrike couldn't agree with her side, but she still really liked them. The idea of losing her former mentor... hurt. She sighed again. Glancing back, she noticed a small, round and smooth pebble that she could easily pick up. She grabbed it and placed it gently in front of her. Quickly, she stretched her arm back and released it, smacking the pebble away to the ocean.
She watched as it bounced across the ocean, sending ripples away from the spots that the pebble hit. Until it eventually sank into the ocean, far away from the shore. But still in Clawstrike's view. Barely. Clawstrike shook her head and soon stood up. She hissed when sudden pain lashed through her. She looked down to see that one of her claws was stuck in a small crack.
"Great." She murmured to herself before yanking the claw out - which by the way hurt a lot - and was sent flying into the water. Crashing into the waves, the fish swam away from the sudden splash and the light dappled through the ocean. Under Clawstrike was a dark abyss that led to where only StarClan knows. Clawstrike shook her head and started to push her way to the surface.
When she broke free and out on the surface, she took in huge gulps of air before doing a kitty paddle to shore. She reached the shore, spat out water, shook her fur to get the rest of the water out, and took in more breaths of air. Wow. She thought, breathing heavily. When her breathing got back to normal, she looked down at her claws and grimaced. Her claw looked almost pulled and blood started to poor out. "Well, I guess I better let Boragewisp take a look." She mumbled to herself.
She walked back to camp, limping. When she got tired of that she merely raised her injured paw up so that it couldn't get even more damaged again. When she got back to camp, she noticed that a lot of cats were murmuring to each other, whispering about how the Clans haven't really been doing the greatest. Cats getting sick or badly injured. She shivered, recalling about how the young Vinekit of BubbleClan had caught kittencough. She wasn't fully sure on what that was, but judging the way that the Clans see it as a problem and are very saddened and already grieving for the young kit, Clawstrike guessed that it was a death sentence.
She walked into the medicine den and was greeted by the aroma of herbs and other plants. There were quite a few moss nests for patients but only one Clanmate was in one: Amberbite. The poor ginger and white cat were covered by leaves that were filled with poultices and cobwebs. They were sleeping steadily, but Clawstrike's stomach ached with worry for them. She turned her attention to the medicine cat soon after, however.
A very tired looking pale and white spotted she-cat was busy with the herb stores, mumbling the name of the herbs under her breath. "Boragewisp?" Clawstrike mewed, taking a step forward.
The medicine cat whirled around, and Clawstrike saw tiredness in Boragewisp's unique eyes, one cyan while the other was amber. "What?" Boragewisp snapped, her tail raised high. Clawstrike flinched. Boragewisp calm downed, her fur starting to settle when she recognized the new warrior. "Oh, it's just you." She said and walked up to her. "What's wrong?" The old she-cat asked.
"It's my claw." Clawstrike explained. "I think I wrenched it or something." Clawstrike lifted the paw up so Boragewisp could take a look. The medicine cat took the younger she-cat's paw and looked at the bleeding claw.
Boragewisp continued to examine it before letting go and walked to her stores to make a poultice. "Wait here, I'll get some cobwebs and healing herbs for that." She said before she had turned around. Clawstrike nodded and sat down obediently.
As the gray warrior looked around, she felt her fur prickle. The den was dark and while it was helpful for patients when they were trying to sleep, it just made Clawstrike feel uneasy. She felt as though she was being watched. As Boragewisp returned with herbs in her mouth to treat her, Clawstrike's blue gaze turned to the only patient in the den.
"I hope that they get better. They taught me so much and was a great mentor..." Clawstrike murmured.
Boragewisp paused for a while before responding and continuing her work. "Yes, it would be a shame to lose a warrior." She said, in almost a monotone voice.
Clawstrike frowned. "What, you wouldn't let them die, would you? They're a great warrior, and while they may have done some questionable things, they don't deserve to die. Not yet." Clawstrike waited for Boragewisp to respond. She didn't for a while.
Boragewisp had stopped working for a long time, not saying anything. Her eyes didn't meet the young warrior, and instead laid on the ground. Eventually she straightened up and looked at Clawstrike with narrowed eyes. "Of course not. I am a healer, not a killer. I am shocked that you think that I would let my own Clanmate die without me even trying." She snapped.
Clawstrike blinked. She didn't like the way that Boragewisp had hesitated before responding. Was she really thinking of letting Amberbite die? She wondered. She shook the thought away. Don't think that. She would never do that. "Right, right..." Clawstrike mumbled, looking down at the ground.
When Boragewisp had finished wrapping Clawstrike's paw with a leaf, she stood up and looked back at Clawstrike. "All done." She said. Clawstrike dipped her head and murmured a thanks before walking out at the den.
As Clawstrike gazed around the camp, the thoughts about Amberbite that had troubled her started to vanish. Or at least get pulled away from the center of her mind. Howlpaw and Honeypaw were play-fighting, Fuzzstar and Wolfblotch were discussing things in the leader's den, Riverclaw was sleeping in their den, and Ashmoss and Oatblur were sharing some fresh-kill. Clawstrike smiled.
She was proud of how far her Clan has gotten. Six moons ago, she was just a little kittypet that had just joined the Keepers on their journey to the ocean. To find a new home. Now they found that home. She was no longer Sock, nor was she an apprentice. She was a warrior. A warrior of WetClan. And she had sworn, that she would protect this Clan and the warrior code with her life. And she won't let anything happen to them. Not on her watch.
