The woman didn't even act panicked, which was a little odd to you, but it didn't bother you. Her head turned slightly to look you in the eyes, before shock crossed her face.

"So, that's how you knew." She huffed, "Unlike your royalty, I have nothing to hide. Ask away."

"If you didn't have anything to hide, you wouldn't have tried to trick me." You snapped, "What are you, monster?"

Annoyance flashed in her eyes as she glared at you, "Don't call me a monster. I am the fairy queen and queen of the otherworld residences. Tell me, do you always show royalty respect like this?"

"You mean monsters? Rulers of my enemies? Yes."

She's still calm though you could see her skin was smoking slightly where the metal was touching her skin. If she's a fairy, then there must be some iron mixed with the silver. Feeling her shift slightly you held the letter opener closer to her, making her freeze.

"I was serious when I wanted you for my general to stop a war." She explained calmly.

"The war you started when you attacked the human royalty. I know, I was there and you're an idiot if you think I'm going to go against my own kind. I swore my allegiance to protect them. I was trained for years for it."

"We didn't start it." She denied, "Let me go and everything will be explained. You'll even get a change of heart."

"I doubt it." You growled, feeling your anger burn, "You've given me a great opportunity though."

She attacked the castle, she's the reason Circe, Luca, and everyone else is dead, not to mention she kidnapped you to make you lead her monster army. After everything she's done, she thinks you're just going to do what she wants because she's royalty? Normal human civilians don't even know that monsters exist. That they've been the enemies for generations. Now, you can kill the enemy's queen. You were ready to kill her, when the door slammed opened, followed by a burning pain in your hand.

Screaming, you dropped the opener and glared at the figure in the door while cradling your hand. You know the girl standing in the door. Uncertainty on her face as the queen moved to stand behind her. The witch's hair matched the orange fireball in the witch's hand. She acted like she would hit you if you acted out.

"(Y/N), do you remember me?" She asked almost sounding worried.

"You were the last magician alive from the secret guard. You were there when I was absorbed into the egg, Anna." You huffed, glaring at her, "Anna the traitor. That label suits you."

She physically winced, as guilt crossed her face, good. You want her to feel bad. Glancing down at your hand, you saw it was an angry red. She didn't make the fireball hot enough to scorch you, but just enough to hurt you into letting the monster queen go.

"We're not your enemy, (Y/N)." Anna tried to assure you, "Her majesty, can explain everything if you just hear her out."

"I should listen the monster who killed nearly my whole team and the witch who's a traitor to those same people. Never." You snapped, seeing that your answer upset them.

They exchanged concerned looks before Anna grabbed the door, "We'll let you cool off to think things through."

Watching them close the door, your body relaxed as you sat on the bed. You need a way out of here. If you had weapons, you would kill every monster you came across. Take out half the castle and probably half of the hoard before making it to a ship. It would be rough sailing from there, but you're decently sure you would survive at the least. That's only a wishful plan though.

Twirling the letter opener between your fingers, you glanced out the balcony door to watch the monster guards walk and take their rotations. You stopped twirling the opener when you realized your escape was right in front of you the whole time.  Smirking, you went to the glass doors and started working on prying the doors open.

If you can get these doors open, you calm climb down the side of the castle, up the castle wall, kill the guards, and escape to a boat. A less straightforward plan than kill all the monsters, but it will work just the same. Either way you'll be able to escape to warn Prince Alan. You almost had the doors open, when a hand wrapped around your mouth, and you were pulled away from them. Managing to stay on your knees, you twisted to the side to stab the letter opener into your attacker.

They jumped back before grabbing your wrists and holding them together. They even stepped on your toes to keep you from kicking out. When you tried to fall back to throw them off balance, they kept you up.

"Well, I'm glad you remember your training during stressful times." Your eyes widened at the voice as you looked up.

"Remus." You grinned, instantly hugging him.

You don't care if he likes physical affection or not. You're just happy to have an ally in a den of monsters. He went tense for a minute before he wrapped one arm around it. It the best you hoped out of him. Realizing that he doesn't know about your team, you backed up. You failed him and you can't hide it from him.

"Almost everyone is dead." You muttered, feeling tears swell up in your eyes, "I'm sorry. We tried. there were to many monsters, and I just kept making the wrong decisions. It's my fault."

"It's okay. It was your first mission. I couldn't reasonable expect all of your team to survive." He assured you, "The mission was completed. We can mourn the others later."

"Once we get out of here that is." You felt your breath catch in your throat as you looked past Remus.

At the opening in the wall where the fireplace used to be, Flora, Gabriel, and Luca stood. They're actually alive. If they're alive, then that means Circe, Blaise, or Esme could be alive. Seeing Luca smiling at you, relief filled you before you ran to him. You nearly tackled him to the ground as you hugged him. The last time you saw him, you tried to save him from cave goblins. You weren't able to. Now, you hugged him like you weren't going to let him go, because you don't plan to.

"I'm sorry." You whimpered, "I'm sorry. I shouldn't have let you go. It's my fault, I'm sorry."

You heard him shush you as you felt him rock back and forth. It was comforting and it assured you that he was actually alive, not an illusion. Swallowing the lump in your throat, you tried holding your breath to stop crying.

"It's not your fault. We're okay." He whispered, "We can catch up once we get out of here."

Nodding, you looked around at Flora, Gabriel, and Remus. This group is small, but it's the perfect size for an escape. Looking over at Remus, you nodded for him to lead on. He's got the plan, so it makes sense for him to lead. He returned the nod, before entering the passageway. When you stepped inside the wall behind you moved down. Surrounding you in darkness. You felt Luca grab one hand and a cold, slender hand grabs your other hand, Flora's. With how dark it is you're not surprised that you'll have to hang onto each other, so you won't get lost. So long as you escape, you're okay with being blindly lead ahead.
