Calcutta, looking into the mirror of her bedroom with a neutral expression with a frustrated look. She was wearing a white chiffon saree that is heavily embroidered with white thread. This typical saree is often known as Parsi gara Saree. She was pairing saree with a white blouse and drapes it in typical Parsi fashion. Her jewelleries consist of a necklace, a pair of earrings and some basic bangles, but it was one chosen for her by her parents as she had to get ready for her marriage. She didn't want to get married, not now, not ever. She wanted to make her own choices, her own path in life. So here, she was, wearing a saree and getting ready for a wedding that she did not want. This had all the makings of a tragic love story...what path would she take to escape a cruel and arranged marriage?
As the Mahim, Milan and Sohrab arrived and got out of the car, they noticed that the house was all decorated for the occasion of the wedding. There was a sign decorated in flowers outside that said, "Nivedita weds Farshad." The house was also busy and there were people coming and going from the house, probably for the wedding preparations. The trio had to be careful as to not get noticed as they approached the house, and they had to find a way to disrupt the wedding before it began.
"This must be the place!" Milan said, noticing the sign on the door.
Mahim was seated in the driver seat looked nervous and worried, as he thought how about what they would do to stop the wedding before it could happen.
"Nivedita weds Farshad!?" Sohrab said, feeling determined to do something to prevent the wedding. After giving each other a quick glance, Alan and Milan decided to prevent Calcutta from getting married in the wedding that they had arranged. They entered the house secretly and made their way upstairs to Calcutta's room.
"Her father is going to have a heart attack, man.I'm hoping he doesn't kill us for taking advantage of control of this place." Sohrab said as he and Milan went upstairs to Calcutta's room, when they heard some distant male noises coming from the other room down the hallway, which indicated Farshad was there. "Listen, I'll look after Nivedita while you peel the price off the groom's tag." Sohrab nodded as Milan informed him, then proceeded to the other hallway room. As Calcutta was getting ready, Milan came into her bedroom. She stood there, and when she turned to face him and grinned broadly.
"Milan? What on earth are you doing here?" Calcutta questioned, looking at Milan with a sense of shock and perplexity. She couldn't understand why she was there, and she was surprised that she had found her room and come to visit her.
"We came to stop this wedding!" Milan answered, looking determined and serious. Calcutta was even more shocked by this statement. Her smile turned into a wide frown as she turned to face the mirror and grabbed some bangles from the front of the table to wear them. She looked at herself in the mirror, and she could feel her spirits sinking as she saw the reflection of the woman, she was expected to become...a wife and mother. This was not the life that she wanted, and she felt trapped and depressed by the thought of having to give up her dreams and who she wanted to be, just to be forced into this arranged marriage. She felt completely overwhelmed by it all, and she was becoming more and more unhappy. Calcutta looked at herself in the mirror, and she felt a crushing weight of defeat wash over her. She couldn't believe that she was being forced to marry someone she didn't know, love and want to marry. She felt betrayed by her family.
Calcutta felt a sense of hopelessness and unhappiness wash over her, but she felt like she didn't have any way out. As the reality of the situation set in, she couldn't hold back the tears anymore.
"Milan...I tried talking to my parents several times, hoping to persuade them, but it didn't work. I am still obeying them because I don't want to disappoint them, and I still respect them. If I don't marry him, my parents will be very upset. So, I don't want to cause a stir at the wedding." Calcutta was sad as she told Milan about her situation, and she was feeling stuck. She didn't want to disappoint her parents or cause a scene at the wedding, but she also didn't want to go through with this unwanted marriage.
