Few days later
After the fight with Gaara Naruto immediately went home.
The next day Naruto was called to Hiruzen office. When he got their he was informed that he would be promoted to Jounin.
Naruto refused the promotion because he didn't want any extra responsibility.
Hiruzen told him he didn't need to do any extra work and should consider the promotion a formality.
Sand Village had discussions with Leaf Village over the reparations/damages they had to pay. They were able to agree to terms. The Leaf Village agreed that they would would ask the Wind daimyo to send more missions there way.( The Wind daimyo kept outsourcing all of his missions to the leaf village because it was cheaper, which deprived The Sand village of valuable funds to support themselves. It was only through the trade of gold and the development of new jutsu that the village managed to stay alive. But that method was not sustainable for the long term.)
Council room
After the invasion Hiruzen decided to retire. Homaru nominated Jiraiya for the position of Hokage.
Jiraya tells him he is not suited for position. And proceeds to nominate Tsunade for the position. Because Tsunade's whereabouts are unknown, Jiraiya offers to go and find her with the stipulation that he be allowed to bring Naruto. The elders agree.
A hour later
Danzo wasn't pleased to hear that Tsunade was chosen as the next Hokage.
"What the hell are you thinking Hiruzen. To even consider that failure of a shinobi for the position of Hokage." Danzo thought angrily
I won't allow it to happen." Danzo
Danzo started thinking of a plan to get rid of Tsunade.
He didn't want to get his hands dirty by using his root anbu to kill Tsunade. So he decided to call in a favor.
Few hours later
With Orochimaru
"Lord Orochimaru. You received a message from Danzo." Kabuto
"That old man. What does he want now." Orochimaru
Kabuto revived him through the curse mark.
Orochimaru read the message.
"So he wants me to kill Tsunade." Orochimaru
"Why would he want that." Kabuto
"She has been chosen to be the next Hokage. The position Danzo desperately wants." Orochimaru
"So are you gonna do it Lord Orochimaru." Kabuto
"I would rather recruit Tsunade then kill her. " Orochimaru
"What if she refuses" Kabuto
"If she refuses. Then i will kill her." Orochimaru smiled
"Lord Orochimaru do know what power Naruto used." Kabuto
"It definitely was not nature energy. He must have another source of power." Orochimaru
"His immortal body i must have it." Orochimaru thought
Next day
Naruto was laying on his bed.
He heard a knock on his door. He opened the door to see.
"Well if isn't pervy sage." Naruto
Jiraya sighs at the title Naruto had given him.
Jiraya tells him he has a mission to find a certain woman and he wants Naruto to go with him.
"Is she gonna replace the old man."Naruto
"How did you know." Jiraiya
"Just a guess." Naruto
