When I am choking, distorted and broken
Crawling out the same ditch
Looking for the off switch
Guess I better quit and find another way
Before I get stuck in my honeybrains
Caught up in the shadow of the vicious cycle
Shaking off the same old headaches
(Song: Honeybrains - Royal Blood)
The first thing he noticed when he woke up was the throbbing pain in his head. It felt like someone had split it into two halves and additionally was hammering onto the pieces.
Finn was accustomed to a hangover, he had had plenty of those in the recent years, but this time he knew he was down to a particularly bad one. He usually knew where his limit was, but it seemed like he had gone way past that the night before.Groaning heavily, he pressed his fingers against his forehead, releasing some of the pain for a second before it hit him again full force. He tried to recall the past night's events, but it was all a blurry and there were only bits and pieces flashing through his mind; he remembered the inside of the club, one he frequented from time to time as the music was good and it was in the neighbourhood, and there were pictures of shot glasses running through his head; so yes, he had definitely been drinking and if his scattered memory and pounding head were any indication, it must have been a lot more than the few glasses he remembered.
Then a picture of the dancing crowd came to the forefront, and he had the feeling he had been right in the middle of it. If he had been dancing, he truly must have been wasted, because he never danced when he was in his right mind. But something told him, that he had done exactly that, and this could only mean he had been in a fucked-up state.Very slowly he opened his eyes and immediately regretted that decision when the brightness of daylight caused his head to throb even more. Rapidly opening and closing his eyelids multiple times, he tried to adjust to the light and the more he got used to it the more he could see his surroundings.
One thing was for sure, he was not at his place, but that was less of a surprise than the revelation that he had been dancing the night before. The bedroom was what one could describe as organized chaos; stuffed, but clean and tidy. There were shelves with all kinds of items on it, racks with clothes, and a desk with a pile of books and papers, all very neatly put together. Additionally, one wall was plastered with posters, which told Finn that the owner was a fan of different bands and singers, he mostly knew and some of them he liked himself.
However, all that didn't give him any indication who the girl was with whom he had spent the night with. He was alone in the bed of a stranger, lying naked under the cotton sheets, so there was not much doubt as to what had happened, but no matter how hard he tried, he couldn't even recall talking to some girl, let alone going home with one. With another groan he carefully sat up and swung his feet over one side of the bed. He scanned the room for his clothes and finally found them lying on a chair in one corner.
Okay, he definitely had not put them there; not that he remembered anything about that, but it was something he just wouldn't do... especially not when he was drunk... and in the process of undressing a beautiful girl... so no, that couldn't have been done by him, which only left the possibility that whoever lived here had done it while he had been sleeping and that was kind of creepy; seriously, who does something like that with some stranger's clothes?!
Pushing the thoughts aside, he went over to it stark naked and got dressed. With a quick check of his pockets, he found his phone, purse, and keys, which eased some of the unsettling feeling he had had over someone touching his things.
