It has been a week later since Ally and her friends had decided to enlist. It was time for them to say goodbye to their families and go off to boot camp.

"You better behave young man!" (Ashton's mom)

"I will mom. Come on!" (Ashton)

"Vanessa, calm down. You know he'll be fine." (Ashton's dad)

"Come back soon please Kael." (Kael's stepmom)

"Don't worry, I promise I'll be back soon." (Kael)

"Don't you dare fail boot camp!" (Caleb's mom)

"Hey just because I fail everything else doesn't mean that I'll fail this!" (Caleb)

His mom didn't believe that.

"You better come back alive Ally!" (Ally's mom)

"Don't worry! I promise I'll come back alive." (Ally)

"You better." (Ally's mom)

All of the families gave hugs to their children and watched as they headed off.

Once they got to boot camp.

"Alright everyone! I'm Drill Sergeant Alexander. Here at boot camp we will train you all to be the finest soldiers you can be. But I must warn you if you think this is going to be easy then go home. The military is not for the weak or people who give up easily. Is that understood?" (Drill Sergeant Alexander)

The drill sergeant talked in a very stirn, loud, and intimidating voice. Ally didn't seem to be too bothered by it though. Almost everyone there was shaking, but Ally was completely still, listening attentively. Most people thought Ally wouldn't make it the first 5 minutes and she wanted to prove them wrong.
Everyone nodded their heads in agreement to the drill master.

The first day of boot camp was actually pretty easy. Ally had to get her uniform, get assigned her quarters, assigned her drill sergeant, and had to cut her hair. There also weren't very many girls there in general. There were about 5 probably in total. It wasn't that surprising though.
Even though the draft had been opened up to women, a lot believed that the government had rigged the draft so more men would be drafted than women. Since a bunch of men were drafted and barely any women were.
Which was actually believable. There's a lot of people that are still sexist toward women and don't think women are capable of battle.

It was now later in the day and it was time for dinner. Ally got her food and met up with her friends.

"Hey Ally! So how was today-" (Kael)

Kael noticed that her hair was right on her shoulders.

"Your hair looks good." (Ashton)

"Thanks. Yours all do too." (Ally)

"Thanks." (Ashton sarcastically)

"So who's your drill sergeant?" (Caleb)

"Drill Sergeant Alexander." (Ally)

"Wait really? We all got the same drill sergeant then!" (Exclaimed Kael)

"That's pretty surprising, normally they try to put all the women together." (Ashton)

"Well there's only about 5 women here so we can't really have that." (Ally while laughing)

"Oh dang. I mean I knew that women weren't as popular in the military compared to men, but geez that's such a small number." (Caleb)

No one knew what to say about it anymore so they moved on to another topic and talked about it until the end of dinner.

After dinner they had to go report to their drill sergeant. Once they reported they were told to run a mile and then that would be it for today.

As they were walking back to the barracks.

"To be honest today wasn't as bad as I thought it would be!" (Ally)

"Yeah, but it's only the first day it's going to get even harder from here on out." (Ashton)

"True, true." (Ally)

"Well, I gotta go now! See you guys tomorrow!" (Ally)

They waved goodbye and went separate directions to their barracks.
