(Ian's P.O.V)
"No one will ever understand what kind of life I've been forced to live! It's so upsetting!" The girl I had learned by the name of Tristan, babbled on about how sad her life was. I had no choice but to be understanding and try to listen what she was saying, but most of the time I was staring at what used used to be legs. I had no idea what had happened. All I did remember was going completely silent as a guard came in and dragged me out into the light. I had completely lost consciousness after that, and woke, I don't know how many, hours later to find the girl poking at my face.
"Don't you think so?!" I flashed back to reality and had to blink twice before mumbling 'mhm' and returning to stare at the silvery scales that replaced my skin. It was now crucial that I find Elly, find her and apologize for not going back home.
"I know you're not listening mister, I'm not an idiot, you know!" Tristan furrowed her eyebrows and folded her arms with a huff.
"I'm sorry, I really just need to think," I told her.
"And you think I don't!"
"I never sa-"
"Do you think I want to be sitting here, yelling at you right now?!"
"No, bu-"
"You really don't understand do you. The people who have us locked up right no did that to you!" she gestured toward my..tail. I sank back.
"What do you mean!?" I finally squeaked after an awkward moment of silence.
"They think you kissed Elly! And don't say you don't know who Elly is because you talk in your sleep, and I must have heard the her name at least one hundred times! Anyways, human and mermaid love is strictly against the rules! That's why I'm here!" she nearly spat.
"Okay, one, I never knew Elly was actually a mermaid, and two, we didn't kiss, she saved me form drowning!" I hissed.
"I know! Elly never was a mermaid! She's under a curse, but the curse was apparently given to you using that Aquamarine thingy!" My eyes widened. Was what she was saying true? Was I really under a curse?
"Alright, I get it." I sighed. Tristan rolled her eyes.
"You should just be happy that you're alive!" She snapped.
