Polen was riding high on the success of her newest cookbook. The book, its pages adorned with colourful illustrations and mouth-watering recipes, had been hailed by critics and readers alike. At the launch party, surrounded by her closest friends and colleagues, Polen revelled in the attention, basking in the glow of her achievement.
