I stared at him. What?! But I had so much I wanted to do... tears started to fill my eyes.
"But, we have a plan." he said glancing at Ivy " There is food, water and an emergency kit." Where is he going with this...? "There is a city about fifty miles from here..." Okkk... Dad took a deep breath. There is also one parachute near the door." He smiled at me.
"Sweetie, give me your carry on." Ivy said. I nodded, still processing where dad is going with this. "Dad..?" Riley, get up and follow me." I followed him to where the door was. He took it down and started strapping it onto me. I stared in surprise and started pushing him away from me. "Riley." Dad said firmly. " You are going to die if you don't let me strap this to you. Don't you understand?" He finished strapping me in without any trouble and went to go get my bags. I saw that he also slipped his wallet and the emergency tent in my carry on. Ivy and dad came over to give me my bags. At that point, I started to cry. "Dad..." He cut me off

"Now, pull the red strap down to activate the parachute." I nodded and went into his arms... for the last time. Next was Ivy. I hugged her, smelling her sweet perfume. Dad opened the door revealing the forest bellow. I looked to the horizon. Dawn. " You're not coming, are you?" I screamed over the roaring wind. His face turned glum. " Tell your sister and your mom that I love them. Rent a bike and bike to the nearest hotel. Call your mother to tell her what happened. You are welcome to stay in our house." I nodded and smiled. I didn't want to leave them. "Riley, go! 1,000 meters left." I looked down below. "Oh and Riley," dad said I turned around. They were both crying, so was I. "Be brave." Next thing I knew, I was in the sky alone. But that, was just the beginning.
