"In the vast lands of Hyrule, many legends have been passed down for generations. Different tales from different times, but all about a brave hero and a mighty sovereign whom protect their lands from evils and destruction. Feared usurper kings of other realms, corrupt mages, or beasts beyond imagination.

"Of course, the children of Hyrule are given tales of bravery, where the hero slays the beast, and the princesses blessed with great wisdom make fools of savage kings; lessons from the past to be given as warnings and values.

"But there are tales for which all who draw their breath in this land know: a story of creation. Before the gift of time, before woodland spirits and the first kiss of life, three golden goddesses molded this land from nothing. These goddesses gave meaning to the heroes and kings of old. Din, Goddess of Power, gave us the earth we live upon. Farore, Goddess of Courage, breathed life into Her earth. and Nayru, Goddess of Wisdom gave all life purpose.

"And while their beloved creations had boundless potential to prosper on their own, it needed a guide, and a protector. Someone to love and cherish it.

"This guide is Our Grace, the divine Goddess Hylia.

"Stories of our beloved Goddess of Light say she is kind and gentle to all, using her endless wisdom to help us prosper. Her power kept us safe, and her courage helped us through hardship. We were able to thrive, even when she was pulled from this plane. Only leaving out of love for her people, she defends against a darkness that threatens the delicate balance the Golden Goddesses created to this day.

"We forever are grateful to Her for Her sacrifice. But one day a year, when the snow falls and dampens the life that grows, we dedicate a day to Her and Her alone. Her child, the one blessed with holy blood, prepares a celebration of Her Grace, to give thanks for Her divine protection and our prosperity.

"While this day is prioritized every year, I've come before the great Goddess Hylia herself, as the one who carries Her blood, to apologize for the ignorance across the land, for this year is unlike the others.

"Instead of the tales of the Goddess' sacrifice being spread and thanks being widely given, it is poisoned with worry. Worry sprouted from my failures and a child's worst nightmare. A nightmare of the impending Calamity that threatens the lands the Golden Goddesses blessed us with-- lands a holy princess and the knight gifted with the Sword that Seals the Darkness are currently the only hope for. Because of this worry, the beauty of this world and the prosperity we've been blessed with has been overshadowed.

"For this, I... I come before you, in apology, hoping that my people may be forgiven-- and hoping beyond reason, that I may be forgiven for their strife, for I am the reason their fears cannot be put at ease...

"I would also like to make a promise... A promise that I... Princess Zelda Daphnes of Hyrule... and descendant of Hylia, will give thanks this day She deserves. Please forgive us, and may the day of Our Grace be upheld to the best of our ability this winter... The day memorializing the Goddess' sacrifice... the day of Gracemas, in your honor."
