Oh, that's..
“What?” She blurts out. She couldn't help it. Minjeong can feel her brain short-circuiting. And the fact that Karina is looking at her so expectantly is making her even dizzier. “You just said that it wouldn't be too bad.”
There's a look of hurt on Karina's face but it goes away as quick as it comes. She watches as Karina chews on her bottom lip that's jutted out as they stand there in silence. She looks to be in deep thought, or something. Minjeong can't make any guesses or she'll force herself to dwell on it. Aside from a few monologues here and there, the artist is quiet for the most part so Minjeong really can't bring herself to presume anything.
But after a while, Karina returns to Earth and Minjeong immediately regrets her decision of leaving the dorm. Karina looks at her with the biggest, most adorable, glossy eyes she's ever seen and Minjeong can't help but think, Oh, what the actual fuck, because she didn't think one could actually pull off the term ‘puppy eyes’ in real life.
Karina pouts, mumbling, “Please?”
Minjeong is thoroughly fucked. Karina Yu is begging her to be her girlfriend. Minjeong dating Karina? Minjeong!? The one kid who swore to never be swept away by the bullshit celebrities online? She knows that if she were to tell anybody from her past excluding Yizhuo that she was about to fuck herself over by falling prey to famous K-POP idol Karina Yu's plea, they would not believe a single ounce of what she would say.
It takes her a while to form a verbal answer, but all that comes out when she opens her mouth is: “Uhhh..”
And then Karina's holding on to her hands, pleading using that pretty face of hers. “This is stupid and I know that but,” She stops to take a step closer to Minjeong. (Minjeong, in all her un-straight glory, tries her absolute best to not seem like she's having an actual midlife crisis.) “This is the best way to prevent me from getting dragged into more and more dating rumors with possibly all the male artists who I will have to interact with at one point in my career, and for the utmost dumbest reasons, while also helping me climb my way to the top of an even bigger success!”
Slowly, Minjeong frees one of her hands from Karina's hold. Her forefinger pokes at Karina's palm, pushing the artist's hand downwards, and she skeptically raises an eyebrow. “So this is all about fame.”
“Well,” Karina's shoulders drop. She plasters on a lopsided smile, voice going up an octave with a noticeable lilt. “It's.. also what my agency wants..?”
Minjeong squints. “How exactly will this help you in terms of success? As far as I know, the majority of the country's population still has yet to accept the concept of homosexual relationships.”
Karina freezes, staring long into Minjeong's eyes before actually throwing her head back, laughing like there was no tomorrow. Minjeong, beyond confused, can only stand and watch in silence.
“You really don't know me, huh?”
“Yeah..?”
The elongated second of silence causes Minjeong to spiral down into the void of thoughts, wondering just what the hell she did to deserve to get thrown into the deep end like this. But Karina pulls her out of her reverie, placing two hands on Minjeong's shoulders and looking directly at her. Minjeong doesn't even try to hide her disdain from having to tilt her head up to see Karina's face properly.
“My fan base is literally the epitome of homo.” Karina says and chuckles when Minjeong's brows bunch up. “There is not one day where they don't try to rizz me up! You should see how many female fans of mine flirt with me on fan calls. They're so silly, it makes me giggle.”
