Marcelo looked Jackal's way and nodded his head. He slammed his cane on the ground twice. His bodyguards and the security around the restaurant tensed up. "Then please, come with me to my office." Kurono stood up and held out his hand for Alyssa. She was a little shaken by the sudden outburst of him saying she was his fiance. He pulled her close as he forced her to link arms with him. They walked into a back room only to see a flight of stairs descending down. Alyssa's eyes zoomed out as her heart fell into the pit of her stomach. Her grip on Kurono's arm increased as she got on edge. The last time she was underground she was tortured. "It's going to be fine, darling." He whispered softly. He walked down the stairwell with her by his side.
The sound of heavy footfalls and the sound of the boss's cane tapping on the concrete stairs, echoed throughout the far distance of the path downward. Just as they reach the last few steps. The stench of gore, bleach, and bodily fluids reached their nostrils. Everyone except for Alyssa was seemingly used to the scent. She physically recoiled and stopped walking at the foot of the stairs. The area in the basement looked like a butcher assemblee line but instead of pigs strung up. It was frozen human corpses?
Alyssa was comforted by her partner by him rubbing the back of her hand. The sight was horrific and gruesome. She wasn't fully desensitized to this kind of thing. Only recently she had turned cannibal, again. It's been several years since she first tried human liver, back in college. Whenever she first met Kurono. Plus she has been hunting down and killing other criminals, not innocent people. She's not the same person a few years ago, she has a sense of justice and doesn't believe that innocent people deserve to die. She wants to punish the evil and rotten.
Marcelo turned around and grinned sadistically,"My office in the back, doesn't the smell just make you drool with hunger? You did know that the special ingredient was human, right sweetheart?" She pulled away from Kurono as she backed away from him as she began to feel nauseous. "I was in too deep with the huge justice act. I'm starting to believe in protecting the innocent? I'm such a hypocrite and piece of shit. I enjoyed the meal, even after I figured out the secret ingredient. So what's making me feel so sick?" She looked ahead at the mafia boss with disdain and disgust. "Did you use innocent people or other criminals?" He laughed at her question. "What a stupid question. What do you think, darling?" He gestured to the frozen bodies being sliced up and processed. They were all young women around her age.
The masked female dates that come here. They are fed by previous customers. They are the clientele and the resource. That twisted realization made her hunch over and throw up her recent fancy dinner. Kurono wasn't sure why she was reacting so negatively. They've done so much worse together. Towards the innocent and guilty. It didn't matter in the past. "I'm sorry Jackal, but I'm not the same as before. I have a moral compass, I have an urge to help the innocent. I know my job was supposed to be a cover but along the way. I guess I began to enjoy doing the good thing. I killed the bad guys and eventually accepted that I can't be redeemed. But even if I can't be saved, I can at least help others who are defenseless. I like having a purpose. And I don't like feeling useless to the world. Killing just to kill, doesn't feel good anymore. I like seeing the fear in the eyes of those who are just like us. I enjoy being seen as a hero and getting away with all my crimes. It's so much fun. It's the greatest high, no drug can compare." She looked ahead at the crime boss with hatred. She grabbed her mask and ripped it off. "I'm all for punishing the bad and rotten. But the innocent, that's crossing the line. Got it, Jack?" He straightened out at the sight of her deadly serious expression. Her heart was being consumed by hatred and uncontrollable rage. "Our group is going to target the rich and powerful. Not those who are just barely getting by, that's despicable. Even for a group of killers and criminals. You better tell the group that, whenever we meet up, in my place. If I voice my opinion and explain my new self. I might go crazy. Do I have your support, Jack?" He reached into his jacket and pulled out two Shurikens and threw them at the two guards' necks. They both dropped to the floor gagging and choking on their own blood. "You have my full support, Alyssa. I apologize for not realizing that you changed that much." Marcelo was now rushing towards his office trying to get away from the clutches of death. "No, I apologize for not being forthright with my feelings. I'm still trying to figure out myself and a few things. So we are both learning." He narrowed in on his old pal's movements. He threw two Shurikens in both of his Achilles heels. Causing the silver fox to collapse to the ground. He recognized her face from the news and didn't want to be killed by the rumored angel of death.
