Familiar Faces... Or Not

As Miraidon dashed for the Central Plaza I looked around at the Terarium even more. The place was bigger than I thought it'd be, but it was really nice. A structure of glowing blocks came into view, all of the walls that separated the biomes coming in around it.

"That must be the Central Plaza." I said. I slowed Miraidon down a bit as we approached. Once we were close enough, I stopped Miraidon and slid off his back, Astra floating up off of him.

As soon as my feet hit the ground, Miraidon turned and knocked me flat on my back. "What was that for?" I asked as Miraidon's face hovered over mine.

Miraidon gave my face a quick lick, leaving a trail of his saliva. "Do you always have to do this?" I said as sat up. "Mirai?" Miraidon questioned as I opened up one of the pockets of my bag, grabbing a cloth that I always had on me.

I used it to wipe my face off before putting it back in my bag and standing up and grabbing Miraidon's Pokeball. "Alright, return buddy." I said. Miraidon went back inside of his Pokeball and I put it away.

"Come on, Astra. We have an old friend to meet up with." I said to my Pokemon. We walked into the Central Plaza and up the ramp to a battle court and a healing machine off to the side.

Carmine was standing next to the ramp, talking to someone else. I was able to catch the tail end of Carmine's sentence. "So yeah, thigs are a bit rough right now..." she said.

"I couldn't agree more." the girl that Carmine was talking with said. She noticed me and said, "Ah. You have a visitor, Carmine." Carmine turned around to face me.

"Hey, Carmine." I said. "Long time no see, Y/N! I bet you missed me, huh?" Carmine said. "Yeah, I missed you. Like you said, it's been too long since we've seen each other already." I said.

"I know! It's good to see you again." Carmine said. "Minior!" Astra said, getting our attention. "It's good to see you too, Astra." Carmine said. The girl from earlier pulled out a pocket watch before putting it away again.

"Time for me to go." she said. Carmine turned to her. "Nice seeing you, Carmine. So long." "Ah- okay, see you round!" Carmine said as the girl left. She turned back to me.

"Who was that?" I asked. "That's one of my classmates. She's an interesting one!" Carmine said. "Hm. Speaking of classmates... It feels kinda weird seeing you here at my school. And look at you! You haven't change at all since we last met! Well, except for your hair being a little bit longer, but still." she added.

"You haven't changed much either." I said. "Well, nothing that you know of. I've been helping Ms. Briar with her research. We've been to all sorts of different regions! It's made my Pokemon a lot stronger than they were the last time we battled!" Carmine said.

"Hm. I'm curious to see how strong." I said. "Of course you are. That's Y/N for you! We have a battle court right here, so get into position!" Carmine said. We jogged to opposite ends of the court.

"Okay, you ready for a Double Battle? You won't know what hit you!" Carmine said. "Hey, I've gotten stronger too." I said. We threw out our Pokemon, me sending out Arlo and having Astra drift onto the field, Carmine throwing out Mightyena and Toucannon.

"I'll give you a special treat since you came all this way! Get ready to eat Terarium dirt!" Carmine said. "Toucannon, use Flame Charge on Arlo! Mightyena, Crunch on Astra!"

"Arlo, counter with Knock Off! Astra, Dazzling Gleam!" I shouted. Arlo and Toucannon ran for each other, Toucannon being surrounded by fire and Arlo gathering dark energy around his arm.

The two Pokemon met in the middle, Arlo swiping down on the Toucannon and Toucannon charging headfirst into Arlo. Both Pokemon were sent sliding back, Arlo in a crouch and breathing heavy.
