"It's so weird. Kiki looks different, acts different... He hasn't been the same since we got back from the school trip..." Carmine said. "I can tell." I said.

"Well, that was painful to watch." someone said from the side. Carmine looked over and she cringed, gaining my curiosity. I turned to see a boy with a jacket, what looked like a skirt and white hair with one purple streak.

"If it isn't Carmine!" he said. He turned to me. "And... Carmine's new mystery friend! Think I might've heard of you, though... Are you that new kid with the wild backstory?" "Uh, I guess." I said.

"What a lovely surprise! Just the annoying bozo I didn't want to run into." she added. "C'mon, now. At least introduce me!" the boy said. "This is Drayton... and he's the worst." Carmine said.

Drayton gave me a wave. "You know, he's the strongest trainer at Blueberry Academy. Well, he WAS, at least." Carmine said. Was? I questioned in my head. "Beautiful intro. Thanks." Drayton said.

He turned his attention to me. "I'm Y/N." I said. "She's here on a foreign exchange program. She's my friend, and-" Carmine got cut off. "What about Kieran? You friends with the guy?" Drayton asked.

"Y-yeah. Pretty good friends, actually." I said, startled by the sudden question. "Ohoho, I see. That's great!" Drayton said. I looked over at Carmine for some kind of guidance, but was only met with a shrug.

I turned back to Drayton. "All right, Y/N! How about I show you our clubroom?" he said. "Huh? Why do you need to do that?!" Carmine asked. "You haven't joined any of the clubs we've got here, right?" Drayton asked me, completely blowing off Carmine.

"No. I honestly haven't had time." I said. The sky started to fill with different whispers of orange and pink as the sun began to set. "Take it from me- you'll have a way better time here if you join one. We'd love to have such an interesting new member! In fact, we better call dibs now." Drayton said.

"Come with me." he added. He walked past us and towards the Savanna Biome. "Hey! Hold on!" Carmine said. Drayton didn't stop. "Gah! See? I told you he was the worst! Look at him, just assuming we'll go along with whatever!" Carmine added, her fists shaking.

Some things never change. I thought. Carmine lowered her hands. "I'm going with you." she said. Drayton called to us from down on the ground.

"Hey, what're you waiting for? We're burning daylight." Carmine and I glanced at each other before going down to follow him.

"Aaand here we are." Drayton said as we walked into the club room. It was about the size of a classroom with lockers on one of the walls and a table in the middle.

"Hey, are you sure this is a good idea? You know, 'cause..." Carmine said. "... 'Cause of Kieran? Nah, don't worry. He won't show up here anytime soon." Drayton said.

"If you say so..." Carmine said. Okay, what in the fresh hell are you people talking about? I thought. "Anyway, this is the base of operations for the League Club! On behalf of the whole club: Glad you're here!" Drayton said.

"Well, I'm happy to be here. But, one question, what does this club do?" I said. "Heh heh. Glad you asked! We Blueberry students have our own Pokemon battle ranking system: the BB League. Here in the League Club, we battle each other to train up so we can climb the ranks. We win, we lose, we have a good ol' rowdy time. Such is our humble club in a nutshell!" Drayton explained.

"You're not wrong, but seriously? That's how you explain it to new people?" Carmine asked. "Yup. Though I guess we're having less of a good ol' rowdy time than usual lately." Drayton said.
