//chapter two
• boneyards and a gun

ANDREW HAS NEVER liked the parties in Outer Banks. He had not enjoyed one since he moved to Kildare. Okay━ well, there was one boneyard parties that Andrew couldn't tell if he loathed or... you know what? He wasn't gonna think about it that hard. Andrew refused to think about it that hard when the blond was half way across the beach and very clearly flirting with multiple tour-on girls.

It was Rafe's idea to go to the party but Sarah begged Andrew to come so she didn't have to go alone with Rafe, Topper and Kelce. Andrew might make stupid decisions but he wasn't stupid. It was obvious when they got there that it was a Pogue party rather than a Kook one. One of the ones hosting was━ definitely was━ JJ. Sometimes it was weird to see JJ in public. Andrew liked to pretend JJ was a lucid dream. A very inappropriate lucid dream.

But Andrew wasn't able to focus on the blond all that much with the annoying girl who'd hung onto his arm all night. Andrew kept on giving Sarah dirty looks for inviting Sheri who had not let go of his arm. Andrew was two seconds from throwing a temper tantrum like a child.

Sheri stuck to him like glue, a hand on his arm at literally all times like he was gonna run for the hills if she let go. Fact: He would run. He'd leave the party and walk home if that's what it took to get away from her.

To be clear, Sheri wasn't a bad person. Andrew knew that, but she'd been too into him for two years now and he didn't know how to let her down without simply saying 'Fuck off'. Andrew knew he was the bad person here, not Sheri.

"You know, I didn't think you would come." Sheri voice broke Andrew out of his thoughts and he glanced at her, trying not to look as miserable as he internally felt. Again, not Sheri's fault, it was Andrew's own character flaws making him this way. "Rafe made it sound like you were less than pleased to come."

Andrew shrugged. "I'm just not a crowds person, that's all." And parties like this lead to littering that kills the earth, alcohol makes people stupid, and people caused Andrew unrivaled amounts of agitation.

"I get that." Sheri smiled, they were sitting on the landed drift wood logs while Topper and Sarah wondered off for drinks. "But I'm happy you came. You're fun to hang out with."

Really? Because I've been sitting here while you talk incessantly. You dropped a plastic cup at some point too. Andrew swallowed those thoughts and shook his head. "I'm pretty sure I'm mediocre company."

Sheri hit his arm. "You are not. You're better than whatever it is they have going on." She motioned over to where Topper, Rafe and Kelce were. Andrew assumed Sheri left Sarah out of that group because Sheri seemed to actually like Sarah. It didn't matter, Sarah wasn't good at making and keeping friends. Exhibit A━ Kiara Carrera.
