The ache in my heart intensifies, consuming me with a profound sense of loss. The palace, once a sanctuary of warmth and laughter, now stands as a haunting reminder of what has been irreparably broken. My world has been shattered, leaving behind only shards of shattered dreams and a soul drenched in sorrow.
Suddenly an arrow was shot and it landed in front of me. Hak pulled my arm back and used his glaive to wipe away the soldiers. Yona grabbed my hand and dragged me away with her and Hak. My mind was still racing with the recent incident.
"Hakura? Hakura can you hear me?" Yona's voice snaps me out of my daze. I look into her watery eyes and nod. I stay silent, watching as Hak makes a plan for our escape. Min-Soo shows up and lends us a hand, "Princess Hakura are you alright?"
"Min-Soo? You are on our side right?" He nods with a sad smile. Me and Min-Soo have been friends for a while. Ever since the day he joined the palace staff we were inseparable. I never saw him as another servant, he was my best friend.
"I'm sorry about what has happened Hakura. Princess Yona may I borrow your cloak?" He grabs her cloak and drapes it around himself covering his body. "I'll draw their attention. Please stay safe Princess. Hakura, I'll see you soon." I stared at him in confusion, but it soon turned into fear as I saw him run out of our hiding spot.
"Min-Soo!" I screamed. Hak takes my hand and drags me outside the palace gates. I look behind me and see an arrow strike Min-Soo in his back. My mind went blank and tears start rolling down my face.
We continued running in the forest away from the palace. I haven't said a word since we left, and I don't think I ever will.
We came to a stop so that we could catch our breath. "Let's rest for a bit, okay?" Hak gets down on one knee and checks on us. Yona looks so out of it, but she still checks on me. "Hakura, are you ok? Do you need anything?"
I shook my head staring at the grass. I felt like there was nothing left to do, my whole world has changed. Two of my favorite have left me, what can I do now? Is this the end?
"Is this the end for us? Are we going to die?" I start to tear up thinking about it, I lay my head on Yona's shoulder.
"H-He was supposed to send me off when I got married. What can I do now?" I feel a pain in my chest and my breathing was fast. I clutch my chest as tears fall down my face.
"Princess I need you to breathe please. Breathe Hakura!" Hak takes my head and places it on his chest. "Follow my breath." I feel Yona place her hand on my back out of comfort.
Soon enough I feel exhaustion slip in and I am placed in a peaceful slumber.
Narrator POV:
"She hasn't had a panic attack since Mother died." Yona states sadly as she watches her sister sleep. The events that had unfolded had taken a heavy toll on Hakura, leaving her heartbroken and consumed by grief. She was only 14, and she is experiencing so much heartbreak.
The loss of their palace, the betrayal they had faced, and the sacrifice of their friend Min-Soo had shattered their world. In this moment of vulnerability, Yona and Hak were there to support Hakura, offering comfort and solace in the midst of their own turmoil.
As Hakura slept, her breathing gradually steadied, and a sense of calm settled over her. The weight of the situation still lingered, but for now, she found respite in the embrace of her sister and Hak. The future remained uncertain, and they were far from safety, but in that moment, they found strength in their bond and the determination to face whatever challenges lay ahead.
