A few days later...

Location - The Park

Your POV

I am currently at the park right now, feeling sad and depressed... Why is that? Well, ever since my parents called me a mistake, I decided that I wasn't going to take this abuse anymore, so I packed my stuff and ran away from home.

My parents are probably freaking out that I am not at home, but to be honest, I don't really care what they say, especially since they call me a mistake.

Now that I am here and away from my parents, I have no idea what to do next. Where am I supposed to go? It's not like I don't have any friends to take me in.

"(Y/N)-san?"

Someone was calling out to me. I looked up and saw Rinko standing nearby.

"Oh, hi Rinko..." I said as I wiped away the tears off of my face.

Rinko made her way closer to me.

"Is it okay... if I sit... next to you?" She asked.

I nodded as she sat down beside me. Even though Rinko and I aren't close like that, I am glad that she is here because I need a friend at the moment.

"So, it has... been a while... since the piano competition, huh?" Rinko said while trying to start the conversation.

"Yeah, it has. Congratulations, by the way." I said.

"It's no problem." Rinko replied. "If you... didn't collapse... like I said before, you could've won."

"You sure about that?"

"Yeah... Of course, I do."

Rinko lets out a cute smile as she places both of her hands over her chest. She then spoke again.

"I thought that... your song was really touching, and... it made my heart... skip a beat just by... listening to it."

Hearing Rinko talking about my song like that was nice to hear. It was probably the first time in a while anyone has ever praised me like that, and when I think back on it, she's probably the only one who cares.

"I'm sorry... Did I... say too much?" Rinko asked while trying to make eye contact with me.

"No... it's fine, it's just..."

"Just what?"

"I don't think my parents liked it very much."

Rinko looked confused.

"What... makes you... say that?"

I decided to tell Rinko everything that has been happening in my life, which includes my parents and their high standards. After explaining my story, Rinko looked at me with the sad face.

"I'm sorry... I had no idea." She said.

"It's fine, but... now I don't know what to do, or where to go."

Rinko thought for a moment, then an idea popped into her head.

"(Y/N)-san... If it's okay with you, you can... stay at my house for the time being." She suggested.

"Stay with you?"

"Yeah. I might have to... talk to my mom about it..."

"It's fine. Anything is better than sleeping outside or being under the same roof as my parents."

Rinko nodded before giving her mom a call. I sat there and waited for her to finish her phone call. They talked for a while, and eventually, she hung up and looked at me with a grin.

"My mom said... it's fine for... you to come over." She said.

"Really? That's good to know. Thank you so much, Rinko."

"Yeah, it's... no problem."

Rinko guided me to her house, and for the first time in a while, I'll be able to relax without my parents breathing down my neck.
