DREAMS OF RUKIA: Chapter Twelve

"First Movement: Shidare Fubiki!!" (Weeping Blizzard)

As the snowy fog settles in, I make sure to take hold of Nel's wrist as she begins to fret.

"Don't worry, Nel. He can't see through it either, but I can." I hear Kensei roaring as he struggles to get his bearings.

"Resorting to robbing my eyesight, huh? That's low, outsider!" Me and Nel silently approach Kensei with my guidance, and eventually we're on either side of him.

"Now!" Kensei has no time to react before Nel has pierced Kensei with her lance from the front, and I have stabbed him with the brunt of my axe from the back. I stab the ground with my axe and the blizzard clears. Kensei mutters to himself as I seal my Zanpakuto and sheath it. But then I realize something.

"Nel, we have to go. Now."

"What? Why?"

"My Shidare Fubiki isn't invisible. Anyone nearby could have seen it, and therefore know our location. We have to leave because someone's probably coming right now. C'mon!"

I grab Nel by the wrist and we start running. No use being stealthy now, as hiding doesn't matter: the Court Guard knows where we are. We exit Squad 9's barracks and start making a beeline for the execution cliff, hoping we get a good distance before we get confronted again.

"Captain, Tier Harribel is here to speak with you."

"Let her in, Nanao."

As Kyoraku sips his drink Harribel enters the room in her new regal outfit. Silently she sits cross-legged across from the Head Captain and lowering her head before bringing it back up.

"Shunsui Kyoraku. It's been a while. What is the meaning of you summoning me, Nelliel and Grimmjow?"

"We have a little... pest problem. You see, I permitted Rukia Kuchiki to bestow a human with Soul Reaper powers. But, a source from the Noble Houses has come forward with evidence of Rukia committing treason. We have captured her, but Tsuchiya Isoruko is still at large. He's narrowly escaped one of our best Captains with the help of your Nelliel. His intentions are clear: He wants to stop Rukia's execution."

"Nelliel's helping the outsider. How predictable. So you want me to help you stop this outsider from interfering with the laws of your Society? You know I can't do that without getting something in return." Kyoraku chuckles to himself.

"I know, I know, Hollow instincts and all that. That's why I already have a deal made out. You help me capture Tsuchiya, and you can have Nelliel back to do what you wish. On top of that, we will ensure the protection of Las Noches for the next half-century. Enticing, right?"

"You know we don't need your protection, Head Captain. Just this once, I will work with you on this. But, in return I will be the one to deal the killing blow to this intruder."

"It's settled then! I knew we'd make a great team. You and Grimmjow are free to roam around Soul Society as you wish, and work alongside our Captains to apprehend this intruder, then I will allow you to kill him."

"Deal."

Harribel stands up, as well as Kyoraku. Both bow to each other before Harribel leaves.

"Nanao, be a dear and send a Tenteikura broadcast to all seated officers."

"Yes, Captain."

As Nel and I run through the pathways of Soul Society, we get a bit closer: Squad 7's barracks. Suddenly though, I hear a voice in my head.

'Attention all seated Soul Reapers. This is Squad 1 Vice Captain Nanao Ise speaking.'

"Nel, wait. I'm apparently eavesdropping on a message from the Head Captain. Might be vital information."

"Ok" We lean against a wall as Nanao continues.

'These orders come straight from Head Captain Kyoraku himself. There is an intruder, named Tsuchiya Isoruko. He was brought here by Rukia Kuchiki, given Soul Reaper powers and is now attempting to stop the execution of Rukia. Your orders are to attack on sight. Wear Tsuchiya out, and bring him to the execution site to be killed by Tier Harribel at once. He is now the top priority threat to Soul Society. That is all.'

"No. No no no no no!"

"What is it?"

"I've got a huge target on my head now. Any Soul Reaper will now attack on sight. We have to hurry, and we need to be more careful. We don't want to be swarmed."

"Right! Let me heal your wounds first."

Nel drools onto her hand and rubs it into my back, healing the bruises and cut from Kensei. 

"Thanks. Now, let's get going."

We both start running through Squad 7 barracks, trying to go as fast as possible. We may be seen, but we can at least outrun them. All seems well, but the last time I said that we were caught, so I'm expecting anything at this point.

"Captain, Tsuchiya and Nelliel are in our barracks! What should we do?"

"Leave it to me, Iba. If he could mortally injure Kensei, then you and the other officers will be nothing but roadblocks to him."

"Yes, Captain Kommamura!"

Tsuchiya and Nel have defeated Mashiro and Kensei! However, Kyoraku has now ordered all seated officers to attack on sight, and now the Captain of Squad 7 is hot on their trail! The two heroes continue to press onward, but will the obstacles they face ahead be too much for them?
