DREAMS OF RUKIA: Chapter Twenty Six

DISCLAIMER: THERE WILL BE SPOILERS FOR MAJOR EVENTS AND CHARACTERS OF BLEACH AND ITS SUBSEQUENT LIGHT NOVELS. "How did you do that?! Suzumebachi is fatal! Nothing can survive two strikes in the same spot!"

"Nothing living."

Touma stands confused. "What the hell are you talking about?!"

"In response to your oncoming attack, I used my ultimate passive power: the ability to adapt and evolve. I lowered my body temperature to absurdly low numbers." Touma's eyes widen. I use this opportunity to quote something that Rukia once said in the Bleach story, not this Rukia though:

"Right now, I'm not a living being."

"How can you not be alive?! You're talking to me right now!"

"It's better that I not explain it, I don't want to kill you with boredom. Shall we continue your losing battle?" I also know that sometimes, mind games can demoralize your opponent and make them perform worse. Underhanded, I know, but Touma isn't much better, framing me and Rukia...

"As if I'd lose to a dead man!!" Touma lunges at me, slashing at me countless times. I block each and every strike, using my knowledge to evolve once more; I use the cold air around me to generate ice clones of myself. Within seconds, dozens of myself are staring Touma down, all lunging at him. He roars as flames burst out from him, destroying all the clones, and what should have burned me. But, since my body temperature is so low, it does nothing as I slash across Touma's chest. I step back to catch my breath as Touma staggers to his feet, clutching his wound.

Suddenly, I smell something absolutely vile. So disgusting I can't even describe it. And it scares me, because I know exactly what's happening now.

"HAHA! Now your senses are reversed! Don't underestimate who's powers I could use against you!" He lunges at me, or what I think is towards me. Knowing he's using Sakanade to reverse my senses, I calmly throw a shard of ice behind me, knowing it'll hit him. I hear a roar and my senses are back to normal, I see Touma with the ice shard embedded in his face.

"You're smart, Tsuchiya. Very smart. But you only have one power! I have tons!!" I scream and shoot a giant ball of icy reiatsu at Touma, but he touches it with the blade and it disappears. Then he swings his blade and the ball comes flying back at me! I dodge but Touma's on top of me, using Tekken Tachikaze to bombard me with explosive blows.

Why was I doing this?

Sure, I was fighting a morally corrupted Noble. But I had already saved Rukia! I had already achieved my goal. Was there any point?

...

...

Yes, there was.

Rukia's not my only priority. Sure, I now know I love her, but giving up just because Rukia's safe would be extremely selfish of me. I have to keep fighting. I have to defeat... no...

I have to kill Touma Tsunayashiro.

"You could have killed a Captain! You could have killed Rukia! I can't allow someone like that to roam free around here!!"

I roar as I punch Touma straight in the gut, knocking the wind out of him and sending him flying up into the sky before landing in front of me. I step on his body so he can't get up.

"Give up, Touma. Just accept your fate. You won't win, at least not on my watch. You and your Enrakyoten are too dangerous to be left unchecked!" I rear up for the kill, but suddenly...

...

I fall to the ground.

I can't... I can't move!

I hear Touma laughing as he looms over my now paralyzed body. He must have used another Zanpakuto's power to paralyze me.

"No, Tsuchiya. It is YOU who will be accepting his fate! Just imagine how broken your little friend will be when I slice you to ribbons! Fall into a pit of despair and wallow in your anxieties as I end your measly life!" He laughs maniacally as I watch him place the end of his blade on my chest, where my heart is. He lifts his blade to strike me through the heart.

Heya! Sorry for the two shorter chapters, I didn't want to rush through this fight! It's hard to write battles in a typical book form and not in manga form, so I apologize if the fights in this fanfiction seem too short or rushed.

Tsuchiya's fight with Touma is seemingly over! He used Ashisogi Jizo's power to paralyze Tsuchiya and is ready to kill him! It seems as though the Court Guard will have to step in, but will they?
