EUGENE was already suspicious of Tay himself.
For the past few days when they had breakfast together, Tay barely talked or ate, which was not like his usual self, which is usually eating his food while talking, or not talking but eating. But Tay did neither. 
"Are you ok? You haven't been eating a lot for the past few days, you're getting skinny..." Eugene said, genuinely concerned for his friend. Tay looked at him and stuffed a marshmallow into his mouth, and left the table shortly.

"Yah! Tae-Yeon that's barely breakfast!" Eugene shouted at his friend who was retreating back to his room. "I'm fine-!" Tay said from the distance, slamming the door to his room. 

Eugene has lived with his friend for almost seven years now, but nothing like this really happened between them, and Eugene knew something was wrong about his best friend. 

TAY slammed the door, and made himself take a shower since he has to get ready for work.
In the shower, he let his tears fall down as the water is prickling his body, because he can't bring himself to tell his friends about how he feels- especially Eugene, his best friend.

 Tay is scared that they'll leave their partners just for him, and he can't handle the mere idea of how they would hate him. A clingy, friendless loser. God it's all too much. 

Eventually, Tay finished his shower, and prepared himself for work, and flashed his boxy smile as he said goodbye to his Eugene, who smiled back at him too. As Tay closed the door to the apartment, he then stopped smiling, and eyes gleaming with tears, threatening to fall out once again. 

EUGENE drank his coffee, and wondered what could be ticking off his best friend? It seemed too out of pocket, too random- there must be an actual reason, because Tay isn't the type to suddenly show an attitude, unlike his best friend Shawn "no offense Shawn-Hyung" he apologized to his friend mentally. 

"What could it be...? Think Yeo-Ji, think!" Eugene said to the silence, but no answer awaited him. His thoughts were interrupted however, as his alarm went off for him to go report to work. 

"Goddamnit..." Eugene grabbed his jacket and left the apartment, completely dismissing his train of thought, rushing as he's running late. 

 -timeskip, after the duo finishes their shifts- 

TAY entered the apartment, tired from work, and taking Clem, Myles' cat, to the vet right after.
Tay carried the little furball, and let it rest on his stomach as he napped for a while, as he barely got a wink of sleep for days.

 As Tay woke up, he found Clem exploring his room, like a playground. Tay was fascinated by the cat, and for the first time in days, he genuinely smiled. Tay played around with the cat, until Myles texted in the Buttered Toast Squad GC; 

 immylesawayy: @the_3amsax I need my cat back. 

 Tay rolled his eyes, refusing to give back the cat, because he didn't feel lonely for once. However, he changed his mind as Myles offered to trade a Laufey vinyl of his choice, so he can't simply refuse such an offer, and gave back the cat- and even kissed Myles on the lips as Myles gave the vinyl in his hands. 

However when he got back home, he remembered that Myles had a girlfriend, and impulsively asked if it was all cool, hoping it wouldn't damage the relationship, because everything for a happy and good relationship- even if it meant sacrificing his own happiness. 

After a few moments, Myles invited everyone in the Buttered Toast Squad GC for bowling! Tay's face lit up at the idea, but then he remembered that a few days ago, he realized he's all alone, and his friends should be free with their partners...

"this seems forced, I can't do this."Tay said, and said no to the invitation, saying he got sick. Which were all lies, obviously, but it was to save himself from breaking down infront of his friends and show his true emotions and change their image of him- a desperate person who has no friends. Once again, Tay fell on his bed, muffling his sobs in his pillow. 

EUGENE became even more suspicious of Tay, who turned down an invitation of just the Squad hanging out? What the hell happened to his best friend? He wasn't buying that bullshit that Tay was sick, for god's sake- he kissed Myles, and he lives with him!

Besides, even if Tay was sick, Tay would still accept the invitation, like that one time how he went out in the snow with a terrible fever. 

There was something very wrong about Tay, and Eugene was frustrated, as he couldn't figure it out. Out of possible ideas on what is going on with his best friend, so he messaged Myles, wondering if they noticed how suspicious Tay had been acting;

min_3ugene: Myles, don't you think Tay is acting weird? 

immylesawayy: yeah, usually he's always excited whenever we hang out, and he's suddenly passing on an invitation? 

 min_3ugene: Yeah, I remember he literally had high fever and still decided to go out in the snow 

immylesawayy: i remember that 

immylesawayy: can you check on him if he's actually feeling sick?

At that moment, Eugene knocked on the door, asking to come in, but Tay sent him away, saying he might get sick too. Eugene goes back to the chat with Myles; 

min_3ugene: I did, he refuses to have me enter saying I'll get sick too. 

immylesaway: is he...? 

 Eugene pressed his ear to the door of Tay's room, and his eyes widen as he heard sniffling. 

min_3ugene: ...I hear sniffling, and it's too loud for a cold. 

 "Fuck it I'm opening the door-" Eugene said to himself, and as he opened the door, he found Tay perking up, with his face wet with tears. 

 "... Tay."
