Chapter 24
Brian arrived with Marlyn at the hospital, and as they saw that they had packed Kian's stuff, he couldn't believe that after almost a month in the hospital, they would finally leave this hell hole. He was confused about how Stacia settled the bills when, in fact, they knew they wouldn't be able to pay them all this week. Brian would be able to amend it next week, but when he found out that Jordan paid for them, he promised he would pay him back as soon as possible.
It wasn't a problem for Jordan. He knew their situation, and he was only trying to help them and take the problem out of their hands. They could pay him in installments as Brian said. Jordan said it would be alright for them as long as they were good.
When Kian finally got discharged from the hospital, they brought him out with all his stuff to Jordan's car. Nagpaiwan naman sa hospital sina Brian at ang partner nito for her check-up. He said, Marlyn's pregnancy was very crucial and that if she didn't take care of herself enough to be healthy, they might've lost their child.
As soon as they settled inside the car, Stacia reminded Kian that he would stay in her house. Kian lived with Stacia then moved out to live with his father and there she found out that he also moved out of her ex-husband's house to live together with his friends. Now that he got into an accident while he was with his friends, it wouldn't be wise for Stacia to let him go back to them as she believes putting themselves back into danger won't be impossible.
"Have you found out who mugged you off, Jordan?" Kian asked.
Napailing naman ito. "I haven't. Wala pang balita silang bagong balita sa akin. I would know it if they found new evidences lalo na sa mga identity ng mga taong nambugbog sa akin. I just remembered thatnight that these people sounds young because they all rush like kids when they found me helpless on the ground."
"I just hope they would find out who did this to you, Jord." Inabot ni Stacia ang kamay ng lalaki. "Nakakabahala rin kasi. I don't know why there are people who would do these things to someone else. Mga walang magawa sa buhay."
Napahugot na lamang nang malalim na hininga si Jordan. "Well, we can't avoid these people even though we're all trying to be careful. There would be instances we'll get to encounter them once in a while and now, I did."
"I just want to say that I and my friends knew some people who would do this for fun," pag-amin naman ni Kian. "But based on what you told us before, I don't think they were the ones you were referring to. They were scared of getting caught. They only do it to their enemies. . . Whatever you want to call it."
"And you were coming along to the people and doing these things as well?" tanong ni Stacia.
Mabilis namang umiling si Kian upang depensahan niya ang sarili niya. "No! Hindi. Me and my friends would never do that. We tried not to engage with this people because I knew they would harm us. So, we avoid them completely."
"Stacia, what did the report from the police regarding Kian's accident? Was it an accidental crash?"
"It's what they said to us. . ." Napangisi naman si Jordan. "What are you thinking?"
"Well, I think if there was a foul play in it and they weren't telling us the truth. What I was thinking is if they sabotaged the car you were using that day and you ended up crashing your car that moment. I started to think that this neighborhood wasn't safe anymore. What if I told you guys that we should just move to another city?"
Wala namang naisagot si Stacia at maging si Kian. They grew up in the neighborhood and they never had the slightest idea in mind they needed to move into a new city. They just don't see it yet, but now that they've experienced traumatic events in their lives, Stacia started thinking about it.
