Cupid stared in horror at the horde, her eyes searching and tracking down every detail of the familiar but altered features of her old friends.

Blondie was the closest to her, but Daring, Ashlynn, and Humphrey were amongst the hoard as well. Even the Grimm brothers were amongst the horde, yet Milton lingered in the back with Giles trudging closer. A few armor guards seemed to help back up the brave monsters stepping closer to Cupid. All of them, however, sounded like snarling, growling beasts ready for the hunt. Their eyes bore into her aching heart as their nails had sharpened into claws. Even their teeth seemed to have grown longer. Their sickly gray-yellow skin was rancid-looking, and the pungent odor of rotting flesh didn't help Cupid's already-churning stomach.

Cupid's wings tensed, but her first proper movement was turning around and snatching the golden heart on the very top of the dimensional mirror. The décor came off easily, but the top of the mirror sparked as the light quickly fizzles out. The mirror reflected like normal glass as its interdimensional beacon was now gone. The interloper caught her image in the reflection, hating the utter terror in her eyes.

Cupid: Zombies don't belong in Ever After. They're going to be different from zombies back in Monster High. I can't risk anything.

A hand just grazes one of Cupid's feathers, making her grimace before closing her wings in tight. The zombies let out groans and yells as Cupid unfurled her wings, creating a strong gust of wind to knock them all down. The interloper took a look at the knocked over mirror before shaking her head. Too heavy. Cupid thought to herself, looking to the golden heart before tucking it in her satchel. She tensed her wings before shooting herself up into the air, being grateful this set of wings would actually allow her to fly.

The zombies roared as they begin standing back up, blindly reaching for Cupid as she flied up higher and higher. Some of them collide into one another while others jumped up to try and grab her. A couple of them stepped on the mirror, shattering the glass under their feet. Cupid continued flying until she passed the highest tower of the building, and even then, she flies up for a few more yards. She finally found a "safe" point, fluttering in the same spot as she looked down at the horde.

The horde was still roaring and groaning, but they seemed to relax as most couldn't look for up to too long. They soon began to shamble again, wandering the lawn of the campus as well as the main entrance of the campus. The horde expanded out across the entire property, and she could see a string of zombies leading towards the different properties that were affiliated with the school. She could have sworn she saw a small group of them around Rapunzel's tower; her viewpoint from her current location was perfect.

Cupid kept staring at the scene, and she blinked when she realized tears begin to fall down her face. She hurriedly wiped them, sniffling as she used her forearms to further reduce the amount of tears on her face.

Cupid: I can't, not now.

She shook her head before snapping back to attention.

Cupid: This is not supposed to be happening. This world is not supposed to have zombies. I need to find out what happened.

Her tears dry as anger sharpens her pupils.

Cupid: And I will find a solution to this.

She would fix this. She would save her friends from the story they didn't belong to.

A shrill scream rung out, making Cupid tense before her head snapped to the direction. Dragon stables. Cupid's wings made a whistling noise as she quickly darted down, drawing her wings in to accelerate her speed. She tightened the satchel strap to keep it from swinging in the wind. She'd need to reinforce the buckle just to ensure the heart was safe. She merely continued darting down towards the open grounds, and her eyes widen as she processed the scene.
