Third Person POV:
Jessica did not pick up on anything that Kashima was dropping that night. Getting a door slammed in her face did not really say that he hated her. Maybe he was just very tired and wanted to rush to get to bed. Or nervous that he was up that late with her. That happened the first day he stayed in the dorms but at least Kan was with them. It was just the two of them in the hallway.
She dreamt about being alone with him again. He blushed, like he always does. He would be a gentleman like he always does. She would hint to him that she was open to holding hands like some couple. Or they could do more than that.
Jessica opened her eyes. She was lying in her bed on her back but it was like her body was ahead of her with what the day held. Today was the first game of track season. As a sprinter, she was gonna dominate his thing.
Although this was the most important this of the day, she sat up and thought of Kashima.
"I wonder if he'll be there," she mumbled to herself. Light blush coated her cheeks the entire morning as she cooked breakfast, ate breakfast, took a shower, got dressed, got to the track, and stretched.
By the time Jessica was at the field, stretching, little did she know that Kashima was already there watching her. He could never miss one of her competitions no matter what it would be for. He would never be able to bring himself to do that.
He watched as she put both arms above her head and pulled them back. Next, she traded between holding each leg in front and behind her torso for a few seconds. She spread her legs shoulder-width and bent down to touch the ground. Then she went from touching toe to toe with both of her hands.
Kashima caught himself smiling at her focus and covered his mouth with his hand.
Jessica knew she was last but no reason she should not be stretching now. She didn't even realize Kashima was stacked in the crowds of bleachers, looking at her.
Everyone else's games passed by and soon sprinters were up. Jessica walked over to the front lines secretly scanning the crowd for Kashima. She didn't find him. She did find Kan screaming out for her to run as if her life depended on it though.
She arrived at the start line with a few steps and cracked her neck before crouching. The flair was fired and she ran like a model. But she wasn't slow at all. She was ahead of everyone by at least a meter. She was just as beautiful as she did it. As much as the crowd wanted to cheer, they could not. Everyone was on the edge of their seats with a bad feeling that something was going to make the lead runner fall behind. Jessica never did. She kept a good pace ahead of everyone and won the race just like that.
Kashima congratulated her that night in the dorms. It was like a few nights before he was not rushing to get inside of his room, away from her. He hugged her tightly with his excited congratulations and for the rest of the night, she was as red as a tomato.
