"How's your car?"
"They're already fixing it."
The coffee I ordered blends well with the heart shaped cookies he baked. Sweetness and bitterness complemented well in each bite and sip. It would be too strong without the cookies, and too sweet without the coffee. We decided to drop by the café near our school after class ended.
Von wasn't able to come because she decided to sleep. Meanwhile, Nico said he was saving up for something. Probably another perfume. Zel as usual, got picked up early.
The coziness of the café and perfect combination of my meal was about to put me in a good mood not until Kai took a cookie. My jaw dropped as I turn to him. "Ugh! How dare you!" I moved the plate away from him. To save the two remaining cookies, I even moved my seat 3 steps away from the thief. He was about to say something but his name got mentioned out of the blue.
His teammate is here together with what I assume his girlfriend. Judging from the fact that he is placing his hand around the short haired girl.
"Zeus, you didn't tell me you were coming!" He stood up and they did their handshake. "Kairo, this is Camille. My girlfriend," my eyes darted on the girl. When our eyes met, I gave her a smile that she reciprocated. I initiated them to join us because there are no available tables anymore. "It's really full here during this hour," I explained to them.
"Estella, right?" I nodded. It was Kai who introduced me to Camille. When Zeus decided to order, Kai offered to accompany him. I smiled at Camille when they left. My fingers were tapping my leg, thinking for a perfect topic to open. I groaned when a minute passed by without any conversation striking between us.
"I'm sorry-" We both said in unison that was followed by a laughter. I could tell that we aren't both the first ones to initiate a conversation. In the end, Camille and I ended up talking about our respective school's. She is from British School Manila, just near to ISM. KO
It didn't take long before the two arrived. He placed the iced coffee in front of his girlfriend and beside is a chocolate cake. "Can I ask you something, Estella?"
I took a sip from my drink and gestured her to spit out the question. "Have you ever performed somewhere? Like violin? At the Globe Auditorium? You look really familiar," I nodded to her. Her eyes grew wide, jaw dropped. "Oh my gosh!" Camille turned to Zeus with the same expression. "She's the one nag-perform noong 150th anniversary ng Music Academy, babe!"
It was a performance we did in honor of the Music Academy's 150th anniversary. I had two special part. The event started and ended with my performance . I played 'Spiegel im Spiegel' and for the closing I played a Paganini. There is no words to describe how happy I felt when they chose me. They were a lot of violinist in the academy, and they chose me. Me out of five hundred students.
"Camille has been playing the violin too," he placed his arm around Camille. "You started... 4 years ago? Am I right?" She nodded.
Kai and Zeus were having their own conversation. Camille and I were able to built ours from our common interest, violin. We didn't notice the time and it was already dark outside. "Babe, I think we have to go," Zeus looked at his wristwatch before nodding. "Yeah, it's already six. Bro, we gotta go. Paalam ko kay Tita before seven," he stood up and shook hands with Kai.
He turned to me and I also accepted the handshake. "It was nice meeting you, Estella. We should double date! Actually, we just did! Maybe sometime?" Kai and I glanced at each other before waving our hands in criss-cross. "Oh, no, no. We're not.." I let out a chuckle.
I couldn't find the right word and fortunately Zeus corrected his girlfriend. "Babe, they're not dating," Camille's mouth turned into an o before she looked down. None of us spoke for how many seconds that felt like years. We just stood there. I looking down at the floor and Kai looking somewhere.
