Night falls and the princess had just finished her supper with her father who was not to happy with her stepmother. "Knuckella I will personally take you to find a dress for the ball tomorrow." He said. "It's alright father I got plenty of dresses to look through that I haven't worn yet." She smiled and he looked at her seeing her mother's kindness radiating through her. "If you are sure just let me know if you changed your mind my daughter." The king said. "I will may I be excused I'm finished with my meal." "Of course my dear" he said. She stood up then bowed to her father. "Good night father" she said before giving a kiss on his cheek. "Good night my little princess" he replied and she leaves to her room just as her stepmother and stepsisters returned with tons of dress boxes. "Oh no we forgot about you Knuckella" the chipmunk laughed. "I think one of us can give yo—" the pink hedgehog starts laughing. "I couldn't say that with a straight face" she laughed but Knuckella rolled her eyes. "Sally. Amy. That's enough! Go to your rooms now!" The king said sternly. "Yes father" they both said and walked passed Knuckella. "Vera a word now" he glared and her stepmother nodded then walked up. "I thought I had given you an order to prepare all THREE princesses for the ball not just two." "My king she didn't want to come wit—" "That is a lie I was informed by two maids and a guard that you deliberately left Knuckella behind. Don't do it again." He said and for once Knuckella was happy her father was sticking up to her. "Actually from now on I will be handling Knuckella's preparations because after this stunt I don't trust you at this time." He said. "Of course" she said. "Knuckella head to your room and find a dress. If you don't find one that is suitable I will take you as promised. "Yes father" she said and walked away. "You won this time I will give you that you little bitch"
Later that night Knuckella informs her father that she would like a new dress. Even though she had a few that were suitable she needed an excuse to spend time with her father. The king was happy and agreed to her request. Now Knuckella waits until her father and stepmother and stepsisters fall asleep before she puts on peasant like clothes and sneaks out of the castle. She smiles as she approaches the village as they have a moon festival going. The smells of moon cakes and butter rolls makes her smile and remember when her mother would bring her here. As she walks through and looks at all the booths she bumps into someone. "My apologies" she said. "It's ok I wasn't watching where I was going" a male voice said. When the two strangers looked at each other Knuckella was struck in awe by the most stunning emerald eyes she ever seen. "Wow...." He said. "What?" She asked. "Your eyes are so stunning and filled with pureness." He said making her blush. "Oh.." she brushed back a lock of her long red hair. "Thank you" she finished. "My name is Sonic what's yours?" The blue hedgehog asked. "Knuckella" she smiled and he seemed to be taken back but quickly smiled. "That's a pretty name m'lady." He said. "Thank you so are you new to the village?" She asked. "Oh no I'm just traveling for trading reasons but what about you? I'm usually in town Friday-Monday and I never seen you before." He asked and the two start walking through the festival. "Oh well I..... work for the castle and live there" "As a maid? What are the king, queen and princesses like?" He asked. "Well the king is very kind and loves his people." He said. "And the queen with the two princesses? I heard that the king's daughter is like him but his new wife and stepdaughters are spoiled rotten." He said. "Well you heard correct" she said. "Currently the king is getting the three preset for the ball in a few months to hopefully to fine them a groom. The queen and two stepdaughters are hoping to win the prince's heart to become more rich" she huffed. "And the third?" "If she had a choice she would travel to other kingdoms and build alliances to make a greater kingdom and to better the lives of her people. To find love on her own in time and not because she is forced to." She said. "She's sounds like a wonderful woman. I hope she fulfills that dream" he said with a smile. "It's a hopeless dream but it what keeps her going" she replied then looked at the clock tower seeing it was midnight. "How did it get so late... I must go it was nice meeting you sonic." She said. "Wait could we meet again? Tomorrow maybe before I leave?" Sonic asked and she blushed. "Meet me by the clock tower at seven. see you tomorrow sonic" she said and runs off as he waved. Sonic watched her disappear with a loving smile and heart fluttering.
