The snow made a crunch sound beneath your boots as you walked through the forest, headed towards your secret spot. Loki followed in suit, holding your hand to keep it warm.

The smell of fresh pine filled your nostrils, the pine trees surrounding you dusted with snow. You and Loki were in the forest where you had met as kids, on the way to a tree that you both had marked with your initials.

You had met while your father was out on a hunt. He had taken you with him to learn, after your insistence. Turns out, it wasn't your thing, but you had still wanted to try. Loki and Thor had been out on a hunt as well, and they stopped to chat. Loki and you hit it off, and the rest was history.

Now you two were in love and engaged, wedding invitations already sent. Even with your love already set, you made sure to set aside time just for the two of you. Lately, life had been busy, so you and Loki decided to make your way to the very tree where it all had started.

Loki led you to the tree, and you approached it. It was nothing visibly special. It was your average pine tree. It was still green, since pine trees didn't go totally dormant during the winter. The only thing physically different about the tree was the carving of your and Loki's initials, with a heart around them.

He squeezed your hand. "I remember when we first met, you told me that my hair was really greasy."

You laughed. "I did! And it was! Gods, I remember how mad my father was at me for that." You had not recognized Loki as the Prince of Asgard, and your father was insanely embarrassed. Loki had been a little mad, but Thor just laughed and agreed with you.

You brought your hand to the trunk of the tree where the heart was, tracing it with your fingers. "Careful," Loki said, "don't get a splinter."

Even though he was someone who was known for mischief and chaos, he wouldn't let you get hurt. You loved him dearly for it, even if it meant he was a little overprotective sometimes.

You both stood there for a few minutes, reminiscing. When it was time for you to leave, you enveloped him in a kiss. "I love you." You said, and he smiled back at you.

"I love you too."
