“A dragon!” I screamed. “Shouldn’t we run?!”

“No,” Rina whispered

“Got it. Wait ...no?” I asked.

I looked at the dragon. It breathed out a steam making a low growl. Its gold and red scales in a perfect pattern.

“It’s here to grant us good luck. We will need it after all,” Rina told me sternly as she patted the dragon’s side, her eyes boring into mine.

“Need it for what?” I asked

“In order to stop history from repeating itself,” she whispered slowly.

“Wha-” I started saying but I stopped the moment I felt something cold touching my hand. I looked down only to see Rina holding my hand and placing it on the dragon’s scales. Honestly, I expected them to be hard but instead they were soft and felt like touching soft leather.

For a moment there was silence. In fact the only sound there was, was the soft, low growl of the dragon. For once in my life I felt calm, as if all the problems of the world were erased.

“I need your help,” Rina finally spoke” I really, really need it. Do you know about the end? The first end of the world? Do you know about the Major Economic War? You see Connor our clans are this World’s only hope of staying alive.... of staying united.”

“What?” I started “Isn’t that stories? A myth? About two clans that had been given a chance to survive in order to stop The End from happening all over again.”

“I wish Connor. I truly do,” Rina mumbled “Shhhh, Babe, shh” she soothed the dragon-Babe- when i started making high pitch crying sighs. “You see Connor, we all have a duty, a destiny, that we are bound to find and solve before the end of our lives. Mine- is to stop this world from ending a second and last time.”

“Whatdo i have to do with it?” I asked.

“Now that,” she said pointing at me “I am not quite sure of. Seriously, I have no clue. The only thing i know is that it is no coincidence that you came to my house the moment that the council arrived.”

“The council?” man those are many questions.

“Yea, those hooded dudes around the table,” she answered while the dragon lay on her lap on the floor. “Oh wait; you don’t know who they are, do you?” I shook my head no. “They are the universe’s force. In a way it is like the council we work in, except like I said before it is the UNIVERSE’S force.  For example, on the Bright side, there are Mother Nature, Sunshine, Icy, Fire, Air, and Water and on the dark side there are the Envy, Lust, Gluttony, Greed and so on. In the middle is always Death and Life.”

“What do I have to do with all of this?” I asked

“A prophecy says:

In a lonely clan

Born deep in Japan

Live two boys

Who each other always annoy

The one will turn evil

The other will turn bright

And the winner will capture all the light,” she answered. “In this game you are the good one right?”

I thought about that for a moment. She did make sense. After all Detal was very twisted, pessimistic and dark. All he did was stay in his room and talk to his snakes and spiders. Creepy, right?

“So you in?” Rina asked cautiously.

“Why should I?” I wondered trying to sound cool, as if I was one of these cliche dudes with a packed schedule.

“I know that you are only pretending to be cool and relaxed, but I will tell you anyway. What i am offering you, the game I am offering you to play, to be more presice, is full of adventure, mystery, danger and a tiny bit of horror,” she whispered the last part. “Plus, if you bring it to the Receiver he will grant you one wish. He will answer your question; tell you the truth about your past.”

“I don’t know,” I answered unsure, my voice shaking with mistrust.

“How about,” she started “I will give you a day to think about it huh? The storm stopped you can go home. Calm down Fotia.” She whispered the last part while the dragon, Fotia, let a low sigh, as if she was disappointed.

“When I make my decision,” I started saying while patting Fotia without realising it “where will I find you? How will I call you?”

“You don’t!” Rina answered steadily “I will find you by myself when the time will come. Before we part though, let me tell you one thing: unless you make the right choice, your family will be one step closer to death!”

“What?!” I shrieked but before I could ask more, Rina put her hand on my shoulder and whispered: ‘Sleep, Connor, sleep,’ and before I knew it, my world was turning black.

The last thing I heard was Rina saying, ‘Fotia, do what you must,’ and a soft humming sound echoed in the cave followed by the dragon’s little, high-pitched cry.
