Caught in the middle

I let go of Jasper wiping the tears from under my eyes. He kisses my forehead. I smile up at him giggling. I still can't believe he is here.

"Jasper, what are you doing here?" I ask.

"My dad got a job offering here and so we moved." replied Jasper.

"I can't believe you are here. I've missed you so much."

"Not as much as I have."

Jasper goes to kiss me but, I hear a cough next to us. It's Lance. I chuckle at him. He just smiles half heartedly.

"Um, Jasper. This is Lance." I introduced.

"Her best friend." adds Lance placing his arm over my shoulder.

"Nice to meet you." said Jasper.

I watch them stare each other down. Damn, that is crazy. I honestly don't know how to deal with this. I take Lance by the hand as soon as the bell rings.

"We have to get to class. Catch up with you later." I said to Jasper.

"Alone I hope." he replied.

"Okay."

Lance and I go into our first class. Throughout the class I was unfocused. I go to my next class. I see Jasper sitting next to my desk.

I sit down smiling over at him. Darla and her friends come into class. As usual they come over to my desk to torture me. So, dumb.

"Hey dumpster girl. I heard you were trying out to be become a cheerleader. How pathetic?" mocks Darla.

"How is that pathetic? You're a cheerleader." I retorted.

"Because you don't belong. You could never be as great as me."

"Actually, Natalie is a great cheerleader. She was the youngest captain in our schools cheerleading squad." mentions Jasper.

Darla look over at him. She sneers at him chuckling. Jasper winks at me and I just smiled. I love it when he defends me.

"What would you know? You're the new kid." asked Darla.

"Because, she is my girlfriend. We've know each other since we were kids." answered Jasper.

"Wow, you have terrible taste in girls."

Darla rolls her eyes and walks past me. Class commences as usual. Jasper still thinks I'm his girlfriend? No offense I'm happy to hear he still loves me.

But, two year have gone by. My feelings for him are a bit bumpy. I'm confused about all this. I'm torn in between my new life and my old one.

Could our love be the same or has something come in between? I felt as if I was never going to see Jasper again. Another reason I let him go.

Ugh, this is hard!

After school, I'm standing outside waiting for my bus. I need some time to clear my head. Just as I get on my bus. I see Jasper get on as well.

He sees me and sits down next to me. Great! So much for clearing my head. I smile over at him.

"Where do you get off?" asks Jasper.

"Downtown. My dad owns a store there." I replied.

"Dad?! Since when did you get new folks?"

"A few months ago. They took me in when no one else would. It's kind of a long story."

"My parents aren't going to believe that you are here. We've been worried about you. Your friends asking for you. We missed you."

"I missed you guys too."

I let out a sigh to myself. Jasper takes me by the hand. Giving it a squeeze. He leans over to kiss my cheek.

Jasper goes to kiss my lips yet, I move away. What is wrong with me? Why won't I let him kiss me? I have a serious problem.

He gives me a sadden look. The bus stops and I'm at my drop off zone. I get up and exit the bus. As the bus rides of Jasper waves good bye.

I cross the street and toward Sam's store. I walk in and he is over at the counter talking with a customer. I go into the break room and drop my bag on the floor.

I walk back out and over to my stool. I feel so bad. I never meant to hurt Jasper. I figured since seeing him again. I would jump into his arms and kiss him. But, I didn't.

I can feel Sam's eyes on me. I give him a weak smile. Playing with a strand of my hair. I soon hear him slide next to me.

His strong arm wraps around me like a blanket. I rest my head against his chest. Sam kisses my forehead lightly. I love how he would comfort me when I'm upset.

I don't have to say anything. He just knows.

"What wrong baby girl?" asked Sam.

"It's nothing, Dad." I sighed in response.

"Natalie, I know there is something bothering you. Do I have to tickle it out of you?"

Sam digs his hand in my side. I start laughing.

"Okay, okay! I'll tell you!" I pleaded.

Sam hugs me once more. I just rest my head on him. Smiling to myself. I love him so much.

"I met someone from my old school." I said.

"And meeting that person made you upset. Why?" asked Sam.

"Yes. Remember that necklace I use to have around my neck?"

"Yeah, whatever happen to that?"

"I explain that later. But, that necklace was from my boyfriend. Well, to be honest after all these years. I don't know what we are anymore."

"Do you have feeling for someone else?"

"I don't know. I mean I love Jasper. Just not as much as I use to. And Lance. He's such a great guy. Always making me laugh. He listens to me when I'm sad. Not to mention defends me against Darla and her trolls."

"Sounds like to me. The love you once had and shared with Jasper. Is no longer there. If you are having conflicted emotions. This only mean you are starting to care for someone else."

Sam's right. Ever since Lance became apart of my life. I have started to grow strong feeling for him. I'm stuck in between a possible war.

"Interesting web I've created." I mention sarcastically.

"It's not your fault. You're a beautiful girl. Any boy would be lucky to have you in their life." assures Sam with a smile.

"If you say so. I'm still confused."

"Let your heart decide. It always tell you the truth."

"Thanks for the advice. I would hate to hurt the other one's feelings. You know when I finally make the choice."

"I'm pretty sure they would understand. If he loves as much as he say he does. He would want nothing more than to see you happy."

I hug Sam tight against me. Isn't he the greatest dad ever. Well, besides my real one. He is just like Sam.

Always knew what to say. There for me when I need him most. Jasmine too. She is just amazing as my real mom. Beautiful and smart.

I still wonder if I chose Jasper over Lance. Would he be so forgiving? Or vice versa? I get the feeling this choice is not going to be easy. One of them are bond to get hurt.

***Forgive the long awaited update. I have so much going on and I barely have time to write. Plus,I feel like this story is boring to you guys. Not as much activity. I know ur there but, Summer time is here and every1 is out having fun. Which is understandable. Anyway, so who will Natalie chose? BTW, Ian Somerhalder is Lance and Paul Wesley is Jasper.
