I choose...

For the next few days. Both Lance and Jasper have been at war. If one brings me flowers. The other would bring chocolate. Writing me love letters.

Dates. I'm losing my mind. I care about both of them. Why is making a choice so hard? My ultimate fear is hurting one of them.

I open the locker to see an envelope. I take the card out and start to read it.

'Dear Natalie, You and I need to talk. We need to settle this feud. Meet me at Golden Park after school. Jasper.'

I drop the card into my locker. I told Jasper I needed time. I still don't know. Maybe, talking with him. I might figure it out.

Lance steps in front of me. Walking backwards. I smile at him as he take a bite of his apple. Wiggling his eyebrows at me.

"What do you want, Lance?" I ask.

"What make you think I want something?" he replies sarcastically.

"You eyes say otherwise."

"Okay, maybe I do. Who wrote you that letter?"

"Jasper."

"I know you guys have history. But, I'm not giving up on you. If you chose him. I'll understand."

"So, if I pick Jasper. We're still friends?"

"Of course. That's how much I love you. I mean Jasper isn't a bad person. Hopefully, he and I can become friends."

"You're the greatest, Lance."

"I know."

I chuckled at him. We both head into class. I take a seat in my desk. Class starts as usual. Total boredom.

After school, I went to cheer practice. Ever since the whole ordeal with Darla. She hasn't mess with me. It felt good.

I called Sam to tell him I was going to be at the park. He was cool with it. I'm sitting on a park bench waiting for Jasper.

I see him coming toward me. He sits down. Maintaining his silence. I'm waiting for him to start talking.

"Natalie, I want to know who you chose. I can't keep waiting like this." said Jasper.

"I told you to give me time." I answered.

"No more time! Look, I love you. I want to be with you. Just as we always promised each other."

"Things are different now."

"You think I don't know that."

Jasper gets down on his knees. Taking me by the hand. I can see the sadness in his eyes. I wanted to cry.

"I've waited so long to see you again. I figured you would come running into my arms. Still love me like you use to. I guess I was wrong." continued Jasper.

I stay silent beginning to cry. I can't handle the pain. He was right. I welcomed him back but, it wasn't the same.

"I'm only going to ask this once. Do you still love me?"

I ran my fingers down his cheek. Through his hair. I'm trying to avoid the question. Jasper is staring at me. Waiting for my answer.

"I'm sorry. I don't." I sighed.

Tears form in his eyes. The way he was taking the news. Felt as if he knew my answer. Just didn't want to believe it. I wrap my arms around him.

"I hope we can still be friends." I mention.

"Of course we'll be friends. I want you to know I will always love you. Be there for you when you need me." replied Jasper.

"Thank you."

We hug each other once more. I feel so much better. I wish I loved Jasper as much as I use to. Knowing he still wants to be my friend. Makes me happy.

Jasper drives me home. I notice Lance is sitting on my steps. I say good bye to Jasper and get out of the car. I slowly walk toward Lance.

I smile up at him as we exchanged glances. I cup my hands around his face. Lance has no idea what I'm doing. I press my lips against his.

He places his hand on the back of my head. Kissing me passionately. We stand there making out for a little while. I'm melting in Lance's arms.

"Okay, you two. Enough with the smooching." said Jasmine.

I chuckled hugging Lance by his waist. We go inside the house. He follows me into my room. He falls back on my bed.

I giggle at him. I go in the bathroom and change. I come out in my white tank shirt and flannel shorts. I lay down next to Lance.

We interlace our fingers together. Staring up at the ceiling. I felt him kiss my hand. I smile over at him. Blushing.

"I love you, Nat." said Lance.

"I love you, too." I replied.

"What did you and Jasper talk about?"

"We ended thing between us. Time has changed my feelings. We're friends now."

"Maybe he and I can become good friends. He seems chill."

"Yes, he's wonderful. Super fun to hang out with. I think you two would get along just fine."

Lance sits up hovering over me. I smile up at him. He leans down to kiss my lips. I kiss him back intimately.

A knock comes on the door and we quickly pulled apart. My door opens and there stood Sam. Lance and I play it off as if nothing was going on.

"Dinners ready, Natalie. Lance, your welcome to join." announced Sam.

"I would love to, Sir." replied Lance with a smile.

Sam walks away. I take Lance's hand and we head into the dining room. Laughter fills the room. We are all getting along so well.

I'm overwhelmed with relief that my life is near perfect. It has ups and downs. Although, doesn't matter. I'm happy.

*Few Weeks later*

I'm waiting for my school bus. I'm texting away on my phone. I can't wait for tonight's game. We cheer the team on. I made captain of the team.

Lance and Jasper became best of friends. Which I'm glad about. I look over to see a black Pontiac station wagon pull up in front of me.

The drivers door open and Tim steps out. I immediately take off to run. He stops me. Placing a cloth over my mouth.

I kick and scream as firmly held the cloth over my mouth. My eyes grew heavy. Body weak. Everything turns black.
