The sound of cereal hitting a bowl echoes throughout the kitchen as Leafy languidly pours herself breakfast.
It was a hazy, lazy Saturday morning, for most. Including Leafy. Her brother was already out and about, however, she had no clue what he was even up to these days. And her mom lay on the couch, fully immersed in the news broadcasting.
"You know when Pin's coming over?" Leafy's mom asks her from all the way over the couch.
"Oh! I almost forgot about that! But, uhm... Probably around six? Maybe even five, five-thirty, but I'm not too sure." She takes two or so bites of the cereal, soon deciding she wasn't all that hungry at the moment. "I'll call her later, though!" She says while shoving the bowl just a bit further away than it had been earlier.
Leafy trudges up the stairs, then up to her room. Flopping over on her bed almost ready to fall asleep once again, she stops herself fortunately, unfortunately by the desperate condition of her room. "Oh man, I gotta clean..." She sighs heavily while she picks up her head from the pillow. The thought of wasting into oblivion being as easy as just lying down was sweet, but the out-of-control state of her room had ridden the lovely idea of staying in bed for the entire day.
An hour or so goes by while Leafy hangs up clothes, rearranges assorted trinkets on her shelves, and finally gets around to tossing those empty water bottles in the trash after about a month.
All while she's straightening up her room, her phone erupts with a booming sound of a ring. Who knows, maybe it's Firey. Maybe he's finally getting around to some things as well by finally giving Leafy that call she's been so desperately longing for. Sort of. "Hi!" She frantically peps up her voice. After all, in the unusual event it was him, she couldn't even imagine sounding as out of it as she did.
"Hey! How's it hangin'?" Pin's voice echoes through the other half of the wire just split seconds after Leafy picks up. Her voice so full of energy and hints of glee in her tone.
"Oh! Pin! Hi! I'm doing just fine! How 'bout you?" Leafy seemingly perks up about one hundred percent after hearing her best friend's voice through the phone. "What's up?
"Well," Her voice calms down just a bit, less energetic but just as happy. "I was just callin' to ask when I should come over?... If you have that decided? I guess?"
"Yes! Uhm, you can come over around five, five thirty-ish? I was just about to ask you that, you know!" She gives a half-suppressed laugh at something she said that wasn't even that funny in hindsight. It was just more so the coincidence in the phone call. "Can't wait to see you!"
"Sick! Also, same! See you there!" Pin's voice trails off ever so slowly just before she ends the call.
"Bye! See you!" Leafy hangs up the phone, getting back to her much, much-needed cleaning session. An hour or so goes by, and just before Leafy's very eyes, her room is clean! She lets out a sigh of some type of a major weight being lifted off her shoulders, something like relief.
"What to do..." She says internally as she stares at the ceiling lying, this time, on her perfectly made bed. Her eyes glaze over her room until she just can't muster up any idea of what she could possibly do.
She could go biking, but it was too hot out.
She could draw something, but she was stuck in an intense art block.
She could add to the story she was writing, but she was consumed by the foul curse of writer's block.
She could go get a treat, but she wasn't hungry.
She could play her keyboard, but she only knew a grand total of four chords. So far.
There was a quite distasteful counterpart to just about everything she thought about doing, putting her in the most uncomfortable position when it came to these kinds of things.
