Oliver was rushing around the living room, currently messing up the meticulously organized shelves and frantically searching through them. "Hailey, have you seen my wand? I swear it was here just a moment ago!"Hailey, who was making sure she had everything in her bag, glanced up at him. "Your wand? Check the couch, you always lose stuff there."
"Yeah, as if I'll lose it there" he chuckled "...again."Rolling her eyes she went back to organize her bag; list? Check, Polaroid camera? Check, secret phone she found in the drawer? Check.
Oliver rolled his eyes, muttering about how mom is gonna kill him, he darted towards the couch, rummaging under the cushions. "Ah-ha! Got it!"
She slung her bag onto her shoulder and approached the crouched Oliver, "ready to go?"
He opened his mouth about to open but was cut off when Lily ran into the room, adorned in a makeshift cloak and a stick.
"I'm ready to go to Diagon alley!" She exclaimed jumping up and down, behind her came an exhausted babysitter who was chasing her.
Hailey turned towards her sister, " sorry Lil, you're not old enough yet, 4 more years" she patted her shoulder before turning back towards Oliver.
Lily's eyes widened with disappointment. "But I'm a witch too! I can do magic!" She waved her stick around, almost hitting Echo, who was waiting for the girl to play catch with her.
Oliver chuckled, trying to reason with his determined sister. "Lil's, it's not time for you just yet, plus. Mom's orders—no messes while we're gone."
He waved his finger in front of her with a stern look, before hugging her and going towards the fireplace. He scooped flo powder into his hand from the plant near the fireplace and waited for Hailey, "you coming griffin?" He asked, tilting his head.
"Umm..." she nervously clutched the ends of her shirt.
"Could we... eh, maybe go the muggle way?"
He frowned confused, "why would you wanna do that? Flo is so much faster.""I want to have the 'full experience' like you did!" She couldn't stop her nervous hand gestures.
she was starting to panic 'what if he suspects me?' She though, but thankfully he smiled, understanding.
"Understood griffin" her turned toward the babysitter. "Gloria, we are heading out."She smiled, "be careful Oliver, make sure you bring some extra money with you!" She reminded him and they left.
Going through the subway and getting on the train, Hailey sat nervous fidgeting in her seat while Oliver slept.
The rhythmic clatter of the train wheels against the tracks provided a steady soundtrack as Hailey gazed out of the window, her nerves evident in the furrow of her brow. The train journey to London felt both exhilarating and daunting, a whirlwind of emotions swirling within her.
Beside her, Oliver had leaned back in his seat, his eyes closed as he drifted into a peaceful slumber. Heiley envied his tranquility, his calm demeanor a stark contrast to her own jumbled thoughts.
As the train rattled onward, Oliver stirred awake, rubbing his eyes and blinking in the soft light filtering through the window. He noticed Heiley's anxious expression, a hint of concern flickering in his gaze.
"Hey there, Griffin," Oliver said, his voice gentle as he noticed her apprehension. "Nervous about heading to London?"
Hailey glanced at him, managing a weak smile. "A bit, yeah. It's just... everything's happening so quickly, you know?"
This feeling was not one she was used to feeling, she was always sure of herself.
Always knew what to do and was never nervous, now she was on a train with a fictional character as her brother while heading to diagon alley, this really felt like a dream.
