Second Chances (Christmas Dramione)

Draco Malfoy and Hermione Granger had been dating for almost a year, and Christmas and New Years were right around the corner. Draco wanted to properly introduce his girlfriend to his mother, Narcissa, and now would finally be able to, which is why he wanted Hermione to spend the holidays at Malfoy Manor with them.

See, after the second war, it came out that for years and years, ever since Draco was 11 years old, Lucius Malfoy had been using the Imperius curse against his wife and son, and that is why they were doing whatever the Dark Lord wanted. Over time, Draco started fighting against it, which is why he hesitated with his mission of murdering Albus Dumbledore. For that, Lucius was punished secretly. Now the war was over and Lucius was in Azkaban. Over the last year, Narcissa and Draco were gradually recovering from the long term effects.

Draco and Hermione were drinking Butterbeer at the Three Broomsticks, when Draco brought up that he wanted Hermione to meet his mother, to Hermione's displeasure.

"Draco, I really don't know if it's a good idea for me to meet your mother," she argued.

"Come on, Hermione. Her personality is finally back, and she is not the woman you remember," he said. "She does not hate Muggles or Muggleborns. She is the complete opposite of the person you knew, and I would really like it if you would give her another chance. I mean, look at me! Did you really think I would be any different from the Draco Malfoy you knew?"

Hermione laughed. "No, I'd say that's a negative. But how do you know she will like me?"

"I just know. You've stuck with me this whole time as my true personality has returned, and it hasn't always been easy, right?"

She took a sip of her Butterbeer. She knew Draco was right. She never would have thought he could be any different than he was in school. And if she could give him that chance, she should give Narcissa the chance, too.

"Oh alright, I will spend the holidays at Malfoy Manor," Hermione agreed. "There's something I never thought I'd say in my life."
