I Love To Hate You

chapter 8

"I mean I was just shocked that Luke out of all people was there at the shelter, volunteering! He was just the last person I expected and then he was just so sweet with the animals. And we talked, we talked a lot. He's so nice." Hannah goes on and on about her time with Luke. It was Monday and we were at lunch currently. She's been going on and on about Luke and I'm starting to think that maybe her and Derrick wouldn't be that cute of a couple.

"Me and Kyle went to lunch." I say slightly smiling to myself.

Kyle was actually nice the whole time. He didn't have any crazy mood swings, he didn't look at his phone. He just paid attention to me. We talked about lots of stuff. I found out he wants to be a therapist/psychologist, that him and Brendan have been inseparable since they met which was the first day of seventh grade. I also found out that he absolutely loves basketball and wishes he still played. He's actually kind of a big softie beneath his arrogant attitude.

"And? What happened?" Addy screams causing heads to turn our way.

"I'm not going to tell you if you keep drawing attention to us." I retort causing her to roll her eyes. "but basically we went to Olive Garden and shared spaghetti and we accidentally got the same noodle and ended up kissing each other. The end." I say and stand to bow.

"Talk about me causing attention," Addy scoffs.

"Okay so seriously what happened you was smiling like an idiot when you told us." Madi says with a mouthful of cupcake in her mouth.

"Nothing really we just ate and talked." I say spinning my fork around in my salad.

"Then why was you smiling like an idiot?" One thing about Madi is that she is very blunt and likely to say her opinion no matter how mean or negative it is.

"Because it was nice not arguing and stuff." I say running my fingers through my hair. Really I didn't know why I was smiling, I'm supposed to hate him but yet I enjoyed having lunch and having a good conversation with him.

"She so likes him!" Hannah yells.

"Who likes who?" Kyle says sitting his tray down next to me.

"Addy likes Brendan!" Hannah panicked. Addy throws her fork at her.

"I do not!" She yells her face deep red.

"You like me?" Brendan ask standing behind Addy. This is actually a disaster.

"What? No!" Addy screams a little to suspiciously. Addy is the worst liar in the history of liars. "I mean Hannah likes Luke."

"I barely even know him"

"Well you was just like Luke this Luke that .. Luke's so good with animals. I love Luke."

"Can you all just shut the fuck up?" Madi ask containing her laugh. I was giggling a bit to.

"Maybe we should just eat lunch at our regular table?" Kyle questions standing up. Addy's eyes go wide.

"No Kyle sit!" She yells standing up from her sit to push him back down in his seat.

I honestly don't know how I ended up with these friends but I think I need to rethink my choices.

ding dong ding dong

"Mom! Will you get the door?" I yell. I don't know where she is but I know that I'm not going to stop watching PLL to get the door.

ding dong

"Mom! I said get the door!" I yell again. All this dinging and donging is interrupting my show.

ding

"Goddamn who is at the door?" I yell getting up from the couch. I fling the door open to see Kyle on my front porch. Now I'm really mad.

"What in the world do you want? I was just trying to watch my show in piece but then you come like ding dong ding dong!"

"Kayla that is no way to treat a guest." My mom says coming to the door. She smiles at Kyle. "Hi I'm Mrs. Hansen."

"Oh now you show up!" I say turning to go back to the couch to rewind my episode.

"Kayla." Kyle says sitting next to me. I grunt and press the pause button. "I was wondering if you know might wanna go to a party with me this weekend. Like not like me and you .. but like I bring my friends you bring your friends. We hang out." He mumbles.

"Oh my god. Why are you acting like you're nervous? And sure we will come." I say smiling. I'm really liking me and Kyle's new found friendship.

"Kayla your boyfriend is over!" Jake says running into the living room. Why did he have to stop playing at this moment?

"Hey kiddo." Kyle says ruffling his hair, Jake laughs.

"He's not my boyfriend Jake." I say annoyed. Kyle leans down and whispers into Jakes ear. Jake starts laughing and runs off. "I don't know what you said to him and I don't want to know please get out of my house." I say getting up to lead him to the door.

"Awe Kayla isn't going to kiss her boyfriend bye?" Kyle says laughing.

"Get out." I say glaring.

"Alright see you later babe" Kyle winks. He was laughing so hard and my face was so red. Like why did my brother have to embarrass me? Why does he even think Kyle is my boyfriend? I do not understand.

Once Kyle officially leaves I call Addy and tell her about the party and she told me she'd tell Hannah so I didn't bother calling anyone else. I don't even know where the party is at.

I just hop in the shower, brush my teeth and lay down in bed. I didn't even finish my episode. Damn you Kyle.
