"H-Hang on, married? As in a huge wedding and all of that?" I squeaked, looking at Lucia then Katherine.

"Yep!" Lucia gleamed, looping her arm with Enzo's. "It was a match made in heaven. I would even call it fate!"

Enzo looked as if he could care less, but the shock of Enzo and Lucia getting married was still lodged into me. Of all people, did it have to be him? They couldn't have found any other rich people? Jesus Christ.

Just great.

"It's a great thing, so why not celebrate it?" Katherine gleamed, clapping her hands together.

"Because there's nothing to celebrate," Enzo muttered, averting his gaze.

His mother nudged him soon after, sending a quick glare before masking it over with a smile. He let out a quiet grunt from the nudge, plastering a smile on his face.

"Anywho, let's drink some champagne shall we?" Mr. Alvarez said, clapping his hands together then leading the way to the dining table.

Aiden and I trailed behind, but stayed close enough to hear the conversations. The adults fixed champagne and did a quick cheer before they each took quick sips. Lucia kept a firm hold on Enzo, smiling widely and unnaturally giggling at everything he said. Every time he attempted to pull away, her grip tightened on him and I almost snorted. This was embarrassingly funny.

Aiden kept a hold on my pointer finger, leaning his head onto my arm. He wasn't used to having so many people in the house; not since Lucia's birthday. That was definitely an absolute shit show and so much cleaning had to be done after that.

As bored as I was, I kept focus on their conversation, attempting to keep myself from being bored to death.

"Vee," Aiden whispered, pulling on my finger.

"What's wrong?" I asked, crouching down.

"Can I go watch tv? I don't wanna be down here anymore."

"Yeah, of course," I said quietly with a nod.

I glanced over at the others and they weren't paying one ounce of attention. I picked Aiden up and his head instantly went to my shoulder as I went upstairs. After a quick look at everyone, I immediately locked eyes with Enzo and there was an unfamiliar emotion radiating from him.

Was that... guilt?

Shaking it off, I went to Aiden's room and placed him down on the bed before turning on his tv, putting on his favorite show. He leaned against my arm again, humming in content as his gaze moved over to the television.

Saying I'm confused is an understatement. I come back from a day out just to find out that Lucia is engaged?

En-fucking-gaged!

It feels like I'm in the twilight zone. I was more prepared for Katherine to blurt out that she was engaged to that man she always brings back home. But Lucia? Never a dull moment in this house, I tell you.

I ended up staying upstairs with Aiden for a while to keep him company. Not like I had anything important to do downstairs anyway. He eventually changed into comfortable clothes and crawled under his blankets, hugging his favorite stuffed animal. My heels were kicked off but I did eventually cave and leave to get something to eat. Aiden said he wasn't really hungry, but I wanted to make him a small plate just so he doesn't go to sleep on an empty stomach.

Waking up to a hungry Aiden is not for the weak.

When I made it downstairs, everyone was in the backyard, engaging in conversation. Very loudly, might I add.
