A FEW MONTHS LATER

It's been a few long months since the almost wedding. I haven't seen Katherine, Lucia, or Enzo's parents since then and it has felt like a breath of fresh air. Well, I'll take that back. I had to see Enzo's parents while helping move his things out of their house. They hardly spared a glance which was not surprising at all.

Maia was playing bodyguard while we loaded her trunk, so that definitely played a part in the not-sparing-a-glance aspect. Enzo's father on the other hand had a small conversation with Enzo, but neither of us know how it went or what was said.

Neither of us wanted to pressure him to tell us. When he smiled at me, I didn't get a feeling that he was upset or anything. So, I let it pass.

"It feels good being out of that house," he murmured. "I don't feel trapped or restrained anymore. I feel... like I can breathe."

I shifted a little when his hand wrapped around my waist to bring me closer. Maia was extremely nice and welcome to Enzo and I staying with her for the time being. It wasn't surprising at all but she seems like the type to want her entire house to herself. My situation is more temporary, so maybe that's why she didn't have a problem.

"I'm glad you said that," I chuckled. "I was kind of worried about you when we left there. You were quiet."

He sighed and rested her head back against the pillow. The tip of his fingers absentmindedly trailed along my spine, again tugging me closer.

"I felt a little guilty, to be honest. I felt bad for being happy to leave," he explained, glancing down at me. "Not so much anymore, though."

"Good, because you shouldn't be," I assured, bringing my arms to rest on top of his chest. "You're better off with your sister than you were there."

"Well, if I wasn't in that house, I wouldn't have met you, Princess," he said, smiling.

Shaking my head, I giggled quietly when he moved from underneath and was now laying on top of me. Enzo's smile widened and peppered kisses against my cheek before nestling his head in the crook of my neck. I wrapped my arms and legs around him, clinging to him like a koala. Not like he hated it anyway.

If I said that we weren't cuddling like this all day, I would be lying. It made it all the more harder knowing that I was leaving soon. As soon as today. I don't regret my decision to want to leave at all. But with Enzo and I together again and all the time we've been spending together... it's definitely going to hit me once I get to the airport.

"This is definitely going to be a story to tell in the future," I laughed. "We met because you almost married my cousin."

Enzo groaned and shook his head, pulling the blanket further over himself. I let out a yelp and smacked his arm when he bit my boob. Hard, might I add.

"Ow! You ass," I chuckled, smacking him again. "Those are sensitive, you know."

"Well, considering the amount of decoration I left, I don't doubt it," he said with a smug grin.

"You need to shut your trap." I grabbed his pillow, whacking him in the head with it.

He looked at me with wide eyes and a playful scoff, taking the pillow away from me.

"No, no! I was just getting revenge," I laughed, reaching for the pillow.

"By smacking me with a pillow? That isn't very nice, Princess," he chuckled, holding it in the air.

"And I deeply apologize. Will a kiss make up for it?"

Enzo's eyes playfully narrowed, and he slowly lowered the pillow, contemplating. He dropped it beside me and lowered back down until he was lying on top of me again. This time, his arms snaked around my waist to move us on our sides.
