After a few months, I did manage to make her not pop into my mind every other second.
It was around Christmas time, when I went to buy a Christmas tree with my family. It was the 23rd December and it was snowing, not much.
The snow melted as soon as it hit the ground, but it was still a beautiful day.
Everyone seemed so happy and walking around the streets, had a warm feeling to it. All pupils were happy, including me, surviving the winter exam season. It was getting dark when we walked back, with a tree. I was walking in the back, zipping my black puff jacket up and making sure I put my cap on right. I took the two bags full of Christmas decor and was ready to catch up with my family, when I saw a girl.
She looked so familiar, but also so different
. She had short black hair, put into a ponytail, high enough to not be under her black jacket. The girl also had headphones on and some gray flare jeans, which really flattered her body type. She walked right passed me, after we made eye contact, but after a while I looked back and saw that she was also taking a second look. Then I realized that it was Maria. She recognized me, but walked away. To be fair, I did too. She looked different, her hair wasn't wavy, it looked like she blow dried it straight. The new hair cut suited her. She looked older, in a good way, but she also had new red spots on her face and her eyebags were more visible. Maybe it was just me, but she looked a little bit heavier aswell.
Maria was still beautiful, but different.
