"So, Zoe." Avery says, getting ready for her date with Mr. Mason.
"Yeah?" Zoe replies.
"How do you know for sure that Mr. Mason is the guy for me?" Avery asks.
"Well...I don't really know, to be honest." Zoe chuckles slightly.
"Then why am I getting ready for this date?" Avery asks.
"Because, well...oh! He has three kids, also! So, hopefully your kids will get along with his kids!" Zoe exclaims.
"Oh. Cool." Avery says.
"Okay, you're ready." Zoe says. She hands Avery a mirror.

"Wow. I look great. Thanks, Zoe." Avery smiles.
"You really like stripes, don't you?" Zoe asks.
"Yeah. What's wrong with that?" Avery asks.
"Aren't you, like 24?" Zoe asks.
"Yeah. So?" Avery asks.
"Why do you wear that necklace?" Zoe asks, changing the subject.
"Oh, this?" Avery points at her necklace. "I'm a vampire, and I wear this so I don't burn up in the sun."
"That's odd..." Zoe says.
"What's odd?" Avery asks.
"Ella is a vampire, too. You could have turned into any monster. Why a vampire?" Zoe asks. "Unless...there's another reason you ran away, isn't there?"
Avery stays silent, then nods.
"What is it?" Zoe asks.
"My family is a family of vampires, and when they're around 13 or so, they fully transform into a vampire. Fangs and everything." Avery explains.
"Really?" Zoe asks.
Avery nods. "I turned into one early, and everyone at school ridiculed me, so I ran away here. From what I've heard, my mother never spoke of me."
"Wow." Zoe says.
"But that doesn't matter, now. I'm going on the date when Jakob and Ella get here." Avery stands up and fixes her makeup.
Jakob and Ella knock on the door.
"I'll get it." Zoe walks to the door and opens it.
"Hey, Zoe. Is Avery here?" Ella asks.
"Yeah. She insisted on waiting until you two got here so you can watch Lock, Shock, and Barrel." Zoe says.
