The new blue pool shimmered in the glowing sun, Haru already stripping his clothes off to reveal his new black and purple swim trunks that looked exactly the same as the last ones. Held back by the arms of Makoto Tachibana, the boy struggled the urge to dive in as fast as he could into the beautiful, sparkling water. The angered redhead manager scolded each of the members to listen, announcing that she had a surprise for them.
You hid behind the rectangular, small building that the boys used to change in. Yes, you were their surprise. Your best friend, Gou Matsuoka, had just realized you were participating in no club activities. You were in the calligraphy club until problems occurred and left you club-less for the first term of your third year. It has been three years since first meeting your elementary school friends, Makoto and Haru, for a long time. You noticed your feelings for Haru during the second term of your first year at Iwatobi, but never had the courage to put your emotions into words and tell Haru how you had felt.
Now was the year to do so, hopefully becoming a participant of the swim club today. Your goal was to get your feelings toward the cute mackerel-obsessed boy.
"My surprise for you is.. this!" Gou signaled for you to come out from behind the building, as the swimming members stared in confusion. You made your way to the team, and waved sheepishly.
"(Y/n)? What are you doing here?" Makoto asked curiously, looking back between you and Gou. You turned to look towards Haru who was looking at the pool, the color of his eyes as blue as the water itself. He didn't seem interested in the commotion, and you jumped to conclusions. Does he not care about what I do? Have I done something wrong? Haru, I can't tell what you are thinking!
However, Haru was listening. The pool called to him, and he couldn't wait any longer. But he would wait longer, if it had something to do with (Y/n). (Y/n).. His childhood friend, one of the things he held dearest to his heart. If only you could see how much this boy loved you.
"Well, (Y/n) doesn't have a club she's participating in, so I thought she could be a coach to the swim club." Gou stated, looking at you with her red eyes and mischievous smile. A coach? You knew about swimming a lot, being friends with a lot of swimmers, but not enough to be a coach to a swim team! Knowing the real reason why Gou had insisted you to join the club, you knew she had her mind set and you couldn't change her thoughts. You sighed and waited for the boys' answers.
"Coach, huh?"
"(Y/n)-chan, a coach? That's a great idea~!"
"A coach would be a great way for me to learn new stuff."
"I don't need a coach." With that already said, the blue-eyed boy dove into the cold pool and floated mindlessly on the water. Haru.. doesn't want me here, huh? You were sensitive with your emotions and uttered a sad laugh. Of course they don't need a coach, they already have Gou. The awkward silence in this atmosphere is unbearable.
"Well, thanks for trying! I'll try to find another club." You started to walk away when you felt a hand grab your wrist. Looking back, you saw a grinning Gou that resembled her brother.
"Listen here, (Y/n) doesn't even have to coach! But she needs to find a club to join soon, so can she just pretend to the be the coach?"
Haru surfaced, gasping in air before uttering a fine and diving back into the water to hide his slightly red face. (Y/n) would spend more time with him everyday.
It was now growing late, and Haru was still in the pool. Your house was right next to the Haru's, and you offered to stay back with him so you could just walk home together. The other members left the two of you at the school pool. You sat at the edge of the pool, dipping your feet in the cool water. Just you and Haru.
"Hey Haru," The boy swam around while listening to what you had to say. "Am I different from most girls, like Gou? You never pay attention to me. I know I sound selfish, but.."
You spilled all your feelings that you felt at that moment to the surprised boy. Haru swam to the edge and put his arms on the surface. He looked at you with those stunning ocean-blue eyes, and stared at your flowing (h/c) hair. Sighing, he replied.
"You are different." The boy smiled, making your heart skip a beat. "It's because my heart hurts when I talk to you, that's why I seem to avoid you. It's because I love you, (Y/n)."
Because.. he loves me?
You only just reacted in a gasp before a pair of hands pulled you into the pool, and arms wrapped around you. You were pulled into a passionate kiss underwater, by the reddened water-loving boy. You tried to take all of it in, the amazing things that just happened. Haru pulled apart and resurfaced, panting for air. You too resurfaced, and just stared at the blushing boy in front of you trying to conceal his red face by putting half his face underwater. You suddenly burst out laughing and crawled up back onto the surface, extending a hand out for Haru to reach.
"I love you too, Haru."

(Author's Note: This was so fun to write, Haru being my favorite character in Free! Sorry for the bad writing towards the end. I just reread it and found that my writing at the beginning was much more better. Oh, and also, sorry for no updates with Haikyuu!! characters, I'll be sure to write them! I just have a hard time with them, only watching the series once. Anyways, I hoped you liked this chapter. See you next water time!)
