Equation (Rei x Reader)

A first year nerd at Iwatobi High, that was what you were classified as. The quiet girl from the class with the first year Iwatobi swimmers or the shadow girl from Iwatobi. Not that you really minded anyways, you couldn't care less about what they said. No one ever came and talked to you except for one loud individual, Nagisa Hazuki. Nagisa was your only friend at the time, though he always had practice or other things to attend to with his other three swim friends. You often talked to him in school and hung around his other friends. Before you knew it, they all started to hang around you and invite you to social gatherings.

Makoto was very nice to you, encouraging you to become less shy and open up to the people around you. Because of Makoto, you worked on becoming more brave and open with your feelings. Although, it was only just a little at a time. Haru seemed uninterested with you, not caring whether you were there or not. However, his swimming style fascinated you and urged you to keep on dreaming. The team had become your best friends, but the one thing holding you back from showing them your true self was the fourth member.

Rei Ryugazaki, the beautiful butterfly swimmer. It wasn't that you didn't want to share your feelings with someone who made you feel so uncomfortable, in fact, it was the complete opposite. You had grown a liking to the boy when you first met him, and wanted to just say those three words you had been dying to say since the beginning of the year. You were scared of failure, rejection. The fear had set you to panic during the night, fretting over this new feeling of love.

Rei admired you and your intelligence. The boy often pondered on why you acted so strangely around him, and could not put his finger on it. He loved you, everything about you. The first year boy often got red at the sound of your name, and finally asked Nagisa for some help on how to confess. Nagisa was your best friend, he knew everything about you and how you liked Rei and how Rei liked you. So, Nagisa planned to have a little fun with this love confession.

The blonde boy taught Rei all about pick-up lines and cheesy love confessions that he had heard in movies. Rei took this seriously, and stayed up all night making the perfect cheesy love confession that Nagisa had told him.

You arrived at your shoe locker, after just another normal day with your Iwatobi friends. You opened the metal compartment and found a neatly cut, perfectly folded, small piece of paper lying near your shoes. Unfolding it, you read what was written on the paper.

Rei?  You held your hand to your mouth and started to laugh, causing the confused Rei peeking from the corner to panic nervously. The swimmer boy came out from the corner, acting like he didn't know what was going on.

"W-what's wrong (Y/n)-san?" The boy stuttered, averting his gaze from yours and trying to keep his cool. His mind was overflowing with different thoughts, his heart racing.

"Rei, you adorable dork.." You showed him the piece of paper, and Rei's face grew red in embarrassment. You tackled him in a tight hug, surprising the blue-haired boy. "My adorable, dorky butterfly."
