Chapter 17

Leafstorm launched herself over the fence to find Lavendernose sniffing at a fresh patch of Catmint.

"Well done Lavendernose" Hawkstar praised padding over to the medicine cat's side as she began to snap off the stems of the precious plant.

"Oi!, get out of my garden!" a voice erupted from behind them. Leafstorm turned round to see a small cream and brown tom, no bigger than an 8 moons, his icy blue eyes full of fright.

"Hello, i'm sorry to invade, we didn't know any cat lived here, i wondered if you could help us" Oaktail meowed padding forward to the tom, but the male jumped back his fur sticking out in fright.

"Get away from me, i was told you forest cat eat us, get out of my masters garden and stop stealing his plants!" the tom cried out backing himself up against the twoleg nests rough wall. His eyes wide with fright and shock.

"We arn't here to harm you, i am the leader of Thunderclan we need those plants one of our clanmates is dieing" Hawkstar meowed trying to reason with the tom who was having none of it. He just stood their shaking, his brown paws gripping the ear with his pawpads.

"What is you name" Leafstorm asked coming forward.

"get away from me!" The cat cried shrink back, he raised his head quickly and yowled. "Talon, help me!" he screeched and at that moment, a loud clanking sound was heard from the top of the twoleg nest. Leafstorm looked up to see a large feline shape silhouetted with black against silverpelt. The silouette suddenly shot forward off the roof and before Leafstorm could react the shape smashed into Hawkstar who was standing the closest to the trembling tom. Hawkstar let out a screech of agony as the shape bit into his throat and ragged him to the floor with great power. Oaktail shot forward to help but the shape grabbed hawkstar by the tail spinning the large cat off the ground and smashing him against Oaktail's jaw sending them both slamming into the Twoleg nests solid wall. Leafstorm let out a screech of horror as crimson blood splattered the floor and the clank was heard again as the cat landing on the concrete.

"This cat isn't normal whats wrong with his legs?!" Leafstorm shouted at the trembling tom who shrank back. Leafstorm jumped forward squaring up to the cream and brown tom.

"Tell me!" she yelled but she yowled in pain as the silhouette grabbed her taill and yanked her back away from him and flipped her over. Place a cold paw against her chest. The moon then raised through the clouds and moonlight was bestowed on the garden.

The tom standing before her was a Tortoise shell tom, his eyes as blue as ice and his front legs.. completely metal. The tom snarled down at Leafstorm, blood smeered down his chest in anger.

"Croft.. go" The tom growled at the small tom who shot off under one of the bushes out of sight.

"What are you doing here in my garden" The tortoiseshell tom growled at Leafstorm who was frozen in horror.

"We wasn't doing any harm.. we was just.. just trying to get some catmint for my clanmate Brackenpelt who is dieing of whitecough" Leafstorm trembled under the cat's grasp. The tom suddenly got yanked away from Leafstorm as Hawkstar shot forward smashing into the tom's side and ragging him to the floor. The tortoiseshell tom easily pushed his hind legs up and sent Hawkstar flying across the garden. Which it then jumped landing on Hawkstar's stomach knocking the wind from his lungs and sinking his jaws into his throat and pulling his head upwards.

"Hawkstar!" Leafstorms cry erupted from her lungs. The tortoise shell tom froze suddenly, his icy blue eyes widened.

"Ha..hawkstar" The tom spoke, he then turned to look at Leafstorm who was running straight at him, to get to Hawkstar who was fitting on the floor, he was loosing a life, Hawkstar's amber eyes glazed over as he went to Starclan.. the large males body lay still his jaw slightly opened but no breathe erupted from his throat.

"Leader!" Lavendernose cried out running towards the tom and knocking the tortoise shell male out of the way. As Hawkstar's suddenly gave a jerk and the large males amber eyes shot open with panic.

"Welcome back, Hawkstar" Leafstorm meowed as the Thunderclan leader sat up shakily his pelt trembling and his eyes dilating back to normal.

"Leafstorm get behind me" Hawkstar meowed dragging himself to his paws and standing square on with the Tortoise shell male.

"Leaf...paw" The tom suddenly spoke and Leafstorm froze, she spun her head to the tom who's icey blue eyes were wide with shock.

"S..Sharppaw!" Leafstorm cried out, a shocked expression smeering all over her face, as she padded up to the tom.

"I can't believe its you" The male spoke, his body shaking. Leafstorm raced forward and wrapped her tail around him pulling him close.

"Your alive... oh great starclan your alive!" she cried, tears of happiness streaming down her face. No one could speak, Leafstorm held Sharppaw close her tears streaming down to his shoulders as Hawkstar approached him. Sharppaw shrank back, his ears low.

"Hawkstar, i didn't.. i didn't know it was you..i-" He cut off as Hawkstar put his tail around the muscular tom.

"It is alright.. i am just glad to see you" Hawkstar meowed giving the tom a flick on the ear with his tail. Oaktail's jaw dropped.

"He just took one of your lives and you are sparing him?" Oaktail asking giving Sharppaw a glare.

"He didn't know it was us Oaktail, close your mouth" Hawkstar spoke to the tom shaking his head at him.

"W..what happened to your forelegs?" Lavendernose spoke, stepping forward slowly. Sharppaw sighed and lifted up his right foreleg showing them, from his shoulder to pawtip it was all metal, even his claws that still sheathed and unsheathed were made out of metal.

"When.. 'that' happened, Croft told me that i had broken a part in my neck that stopped me been able to move my forelegs and he managed to drag me to his master who was... a 'vet' i think croft told me, and ever since.. well they have been like this but they come with privleges" Sharppaw meowed, looking into Leafstorm's brown eyes that was filled with tears.

"Oh Sharppaw, i'm so sorry" Leafstorm cried putting her head into his chest. Sharppaw smiled and put a forepaw around her back, his head on her muzzle.

"I'll never leave you again Leafstorm, i promise" Sharppaw spoke rubbing his muzzle against hers. Hawkstar grinned seeing them both together his tail swishing happily for them. 

"She has missed you so much Sharppaw" Lavendernose spoke watching Leafstorm nuzzle into him, his scent drifting into his lungs.

"You.. You will come back with us.. won't you?" Leafstorm asked hope flaring in her eyes.

"Of course, but.. what about Croft?" Sharppaw asked, looking into Hawkstar's amber eyes. The broad leader smiled and dipped his head.

"If he is a friend of yours, he is a friend of ours" Hawkstar smiled.

"You better go fetch him then, the scaredy cat went that way" Oaktail spoke, flicking his tail in the direction of the bush Croft had slipped through.

"No don't Leave" Leafstorm spoke, holding onto him not wanting to be away from him . Sharppaw smiled and licked her forehead, and he bent down and whispered in her ear. 

"I will be back" He smiled, nuzzling her ear as he walked across the concrete, his metal forelegs clanking on the solid rock and then his bushy fox-like tail dissapeared into the bushes.
