Chapter 3

Hyunjin was in another lab. Lab GX143 to be exact.
In front of him was the glass cage, like every other, though this one wasn’t like the others.

There were multiple people around the glass cage, all holding a clipboard and making notes about the scene in front of him.

Hyunjin had pretty much gone numb after he found his lover in that cage. He made sure Felix was safe, though he was in a hurry.
He needed to find a solution because Felix couldn’t fight the demon forever, and if he couldn’t anymore he would be eliminated.

In front of him was a man in that exact glass cage. He had transformed the cage into some kind of capsule. The only thing outsiders needed to know about it really was that it was supposed to pull demons out of humans.

And it was working. The man in the cage was squirming on the ground in pain, but besides his own screams there was another voice that was screaming in agony. A more, demonic voice.

As the man was squirming on the ground there was some kind of a shadow that looked like it was being pulled out of the man. The shadow was yelling in pure agony and pain.
As the shadow tried to hold on dearly to the poor man’s body it was being pulled out of him more and more.

Suddenly the shadow let go.
The shadow flew around the cage, ready to find a new host.
Wanting to kill and survive.

Demons were powerful creatures, but they couldn't survive without a host, because if they managed to escape hell they were weak, since this isn’t their original habitat.

The shadow flew around. The floor under the now unconscious man opened up and the man fell through a hole, just for it to be closed again at the speed of light.

Hyunjin felt amazing, victorious.
I did it. I actually did it.
He walked over to a complex machine that was on one of those book stands.
He looked at the panel. There were thousands of buttons. But Hyunjin built it himself, so he knew the function of every single button.

You would think that the most important button would be a big, red button right in the middle, but Hyunjin was smarter than that. The red button in the middle actually had the function to let an alarm go off, for intruders.

No, the most important button was a small, purple button at the upper-most left corner, yearning to be pressed.
Feeling a wave of victory and satisfaction he pressed it.
The whole glass cage lit up with fire that blazed inside.

Some people jumped up in surprise, some only looked at it in awe and some made notes.
When the fire died down there was nothing left of the demon than ash, scattered all across the glass cage.

“It worked!” Hyunjin yelled out. Some people looked up in surprise, but most knew the feeling when something you’ve worked so hard on turns out to be more than perfect.

Hyunjin quickly grabbed his keycard and stormed out of the room.

“So you’re one of them right?” Felix asked.
“One of who?”
“Well for what I can tell you research and experiment on people too.” Felix said, a slight bit of disgust in his face.
“I know Felix I’m disgusted by myself too, but I can’t leave.” Hyunjin said.
“You’re hurting people.” Felix stated.
“I know. But I’m doing my best. Really.” Hyunjin whispered.

Soon his lover would be free again. He didn’t admit it, but Hyunjin saw the way his lover suffered from the voice in his head.

“But how didn’t I know this?” Felix asked.
“I’m not allowed to tell anyone.” Hyunjin said. “And I was scared that if you would know you would… well… leave me…”

He reached his lab. GX203.

“Is it going to hurt?” Felix asked with a small voice.
“Yes Felix. It is going to hurt, if it works at least.” Hyunjin said grimly.
He had just explained his plan and research to Felix, and he had listened greedily.

He swiped his keycard and the door opened, revealing a pale boy inside the glass cage. He still held a somewhat crazy smirk across his face. Hyunjin noticed that Felix’s plate had been untouched.

The boy looked up and faced Hyunjin.
His cheeks were slightly hollow and his face was pale, his eyes a pitch black. Black veins were spreading around his face and arms and even his freckles seemed to be fading.

Hyunjin opened the glass cage and walked in, taking the younger in a tight embrace.
“What’s going on?” Felix asked weakly.
“I did it Felix! I did it!” Hyunjin cheered, tears rolling down his cheeks. “We’re going to get that thing out of you!” Hyunjin said happily.

Felix’s face lit up. “Y-you did it?” He stuttered weakly.
“Yes Felix!” Hyunjin hugged the boy again.
“Well then what are we waiting for?” Felix said, already standing up.
Hyunjin grabbed his hand and helped him up, since he was a bit weakened.

Hyunjin helped the boy out of the lab.
“Hyunjin? Is it going or hurt much?” Felix asked softly.
“Do you want me to be honest?” Hyunjin asked.
“Yes.” Felix said, already knowing the answer.
“It’s going to be horrible.” Hyunjin confirmed.
“Well then I guess we should hurry up and get this over with.” Felix smiled softly.

They reached lab GC143 and Hyunjin swiped his keycard to get in.
The previous ashes and blood were already cleaned and the professors and scientists that were there earlier were gone too.

Hyunjin helped the younger in the cage. He kissed his lover’s forehead before walking out of the cage and closing it.

He walked over to the panel and let his finger linger on a bright green button.
“Are you ready?” Hyunjin asked apprehensively.
Felix nodded, paler than usual.

Hyunjin pressed the button, a sick feeling in his stomach.
Felix collapsed the moment he pressed the button.
He felt his insides churn in pain as he saw the younger on the ground like that.

Felix started screaming, and as time passed a black shadow started to appear from his body.
Apparently the pain hit worse, because Felix started screaming louder.

Hyunjin felt pain everywhere in his body as he saw his beloved in pain like that, but he knew it was working.
The shadow was slowly detaching from his body, while it desperately tried to hold on to him.

After what felt like hours but in fact were minutes the shadow shooted away from Felix, who was surprisingly still concious.

Hyunjin Felt a wave of victory, but it was temporarily.
The shadow didn’t fly around the glass cage, instead it started to bang on one exact spot.
Hyunjin knew nothing was going to happen at first but he felt panick arising when the glass started to crack.

Finally the glass gave in to the demon, the shadow like creature flew out of the cage, towards the only other person in the room other than Felix, who was watching it in horror.

“Hyunjin!” He screamed before Hyunjin was thrown back by the power of the demon.
