More than a week had passed since I first took that step with Remington, and I've never felt such bliss and passion while being in a relationship. Remington practically lives with me now and spends his days in my apartment before he picks me up after work. We spent the days I have free from work spending time with each other and going on dates, and spent the nights I'm done with work making love and waking up together the next day after. For the first time since I moved out of my parents' house, I was actually excited to start my day because it meant I would see Rem and enjoy loving him and being loved by him.
Today was special because it was finally my birthday and I was officially twenty-four years old. I requested to have the day off so I could spend it with Remington. When I woke up that morning, I was surprised to find that Rem wasn't in bed with me when we spent a beautiful night together. I wondered if he intentionally left without letting me know when the bedroom door opened and I gasped to find Remington coming in with breakfast and coffee. He saw my expression and commented, "Hey, sorry I wasn't here when you woke up. I wanted to surprise you for your birthday."
I stared at him as he set the bag and drinks on the nightstand beside us and he handed me a donut and a cup of coffee as he sat down next to me on the bed. I took a bite of my donut and sipped some of my coffee before I set then down on the dresser next to me before pulling Rem closer to me and kissing him passionately, catching him off-guard. He kissed me back and held me tight in his arms as we kissed for a little while longer before I pulled away with a reddened face. He whispered softly, "Good morning, beautiful. Happy birthday." I turned my face away for a moment before responding with, "Good morning, gorgeous. I was already having a good birthday as soon as I saw you."
It was his turn to blush as he scratched the back of his neck nervously and then placed a soft kiss on my forehead. I asked him, "So...is the plan to just spend the day here at home?" He shrugged and told me, "If that's what you want, but I was hoping to take you somewhere special where we could make this birthday the most special birthday for you." My eyes widened with excitement at his proposal, and I clutched onto his arm as I exclaimed, "I'd love to do that! I'm sure you have something special planned for next. But, I hope you know, any time with you is precious to me."
He smiled sweetly and hugged me close to him before stating, "Likewise, my beautiful angel. Come on, let's eat our breakfast and then we'll get ready to go out after." I nodded in confirmation as I ate my donut and drank the rest of my coffee.

As we stepped out of the building, I followed Remington to his motorcycle as I put my helmet on and held on tightly to him while he drove us to our destination. The ride took a while, but I enjoyed the feeling of it as I felt like I was flying while holding on to the love of my life.
Once we stopped, I hopped off to find that we were near the border of the town and there was a bench meant for busses with travelers and visitors. He had us sit on the bench as he had a present he brought with him and handed it to me. I smiled and blushed as I took the package and began to unwrap it, only to find it was a regular cardboard box underneath the paper. I then opened the box and gasped in shock to find what it was Remington gave me for my birthday.
It was his genuine and only leather jacket that he wore almost everyday and the one that he was definitely wearing that day we met at the diner. I held it in my hands and then held it up to my face to take in his scent on it. My cheeks burned red as I relished in Remington's scent and felt happy to have something so personal of his to keep for myself. I looked up to meet Rem's eyes as he was looking for my reaction to his gift, and I shoved the box out of my way before wrapping my arms around him and hugging him tightly while I still held his jacket in my hand.
"So...you like it?", he joked while embracing me back. I giggled and held him tighter while answering his question, "I love it so much, Remington! I never thought you would give me something so valuable of yours to someone like me that you've only known for a short amount of time." We hugged for a moment longer before Rem pulled away and looked into my eyes, "I love you, Amelie. No materialistic thing will be worth more than the fact that I love you more than anything and I would give up everything to make you the happiest woman in the world."
I looked back at him in awe to how he was pouring his heart out to me, and I couldn't help but shed a few tears to how much I loved him and always wanted to be by his side. "I love you too, Remington", I whispered with a shaky tone, "I'd never experienced true happiness or felt real love until I met you and I will forever be grateful that you came to my hometown and noticed me when no one else did." He gazed at me longingly and then leaned in to kiss me softly to start before it became passionate. In all twenty-four years of my life, I've never been so happy during my birthday.
