Zurinah met a friend in Kaleigh. Without realizing, they revealed to him much about their past. It wasn't as if they were hiding anything from him, they didn't believe in secrecy because he was the 'enemy' as Rea called him. He genuinely didn't seem like the type of person to hurt people by misusing their secrets. Plus they were worried for him.
The previous night, they weren't at the ballroom. They were in the garden. And unintentionally, they saw the knight and lord dancing. Based on their perception of the lord, this didn't seem like a great idea. He did dance with the Rajkumari earlier. That put the empires in a precarious position, catching the knight in the crossfire with them. Along with the Rajkumari.
They felt a little guilty, leading him towards the rajkumari without his notice. Spies had already relayed information of her location, and taking advantage of Kaleigh's absent-mindedness, they walked towards the duck pond. In truth, all they wanted to do was show him that Bela wasn't a threat. The lord wouldn't choose her over his knight. And Kaleigh currently needed that information. For his own peace of mind.
The rajkumari hesitantly gave them a slight bow of greeting from her position in the grass. The knight clumsily returned it while Zuri managed to execute hers more carefully. Owing to the awkwardness of the situation, the knight walked towards her. Leaving would be considered rude to royals, atleast that's what most older royals felt. They doubted Bela held the same beliefs.
"We apologize for intruding, rajkumari." Kaleigh bowed again. "We shall leave as soon as you-"
"You weren't intruding." She quietly mentioned. Her eyes didn't look over them, they were focused a little lower. Her posture depicted her self-consciousness. "I wouldn't mind company." She looked past him at Zuri and gave them a little wave which they smiled back at.
"We appreciate your offer, rajkumari." They sat by the pond with her. Circumstance demanded Kaleigh to sit down too, closer to her.
"How's the ankle?" Zuri asked. Bela looked down at her bound foot.
"Not too bad." She said. In reality, Kaleigh could spot a snatch of bandage poking through her kurta and realized it was drenched red. He opened his mouth to ask but was cut off by her eyes. This time she looked straight at him, brown eyes pleading him to keep quiet. He faced away, looking at Zurinah. They seemed to be looking towards the pond, he decided to keep quiet.
