I saw him in the distance. Curls that bloomed like cherry blossoms lay against his cheeks as Astarion sat within his tent. The light was low in the camp, the gentle flicker of fire slipping across his features and highlighting the laugh lines near his mouth and almost amber of his eyes. He was a sight to give your soul for.
He looked around the campsite, eyes trailing over his companions; he didn't bother hiding his undead hunger. His lips curled into a smile and his fangs glinted in the dim light. He took a sip of wine deep in thought, his nose wrinkling at the taste. He looked up as I began to approach him and instantly sat straighter.
"Hello, Darling." His voice was a seductive drawl- a sound I knew well. A tone of distrust with a whisper of seduction. Only one who knew him- truly-would detect the former.
I brush back my woodland curls, the white tips of them curling back behind my ears. This was my 99th life knowing him, hoping that he'd remember that I chose him in all my previous lives. I gave a small wave as I walked over and crouched down beside him on my heels. "You look hungry, Little Star."
"And what gave me away darling? It could be the fangs.. or the eyes, or my undying love for blood." Astarion chuckled and leaned back against the rock behind him, extending a hand towards me, and motioning for me to come. "And you look even more beautiful than last I saw you. Come closer."
I couldn't help the small scoff that slipped from my lips, a twinkle in my eye as I admonished him, "And what makes you think I planned to feed you, sweet one?" My hand slid into his own as I let him pull me down to him. He was always so gentle unless his emotions were unsteady. I was having a hard time this run..not being so obvious about my affections. After all, Astarion had always preferred the chase. The push and pull that made him want me more. I prepared myself for the lies that would drip off his tongue so lusciously, coating my desires for him and tensing my muscles.
"Mmm.. perhaps it was my undying lust for you my love."
There it was.
"Or maybe," Astarion continued, " it was because I wanted to feel your skin against mine again." The vampire spoke casually as he reached up and flicked one of the curls from my face, his gaze intense as he studied me. He paused for a second before speaking again. "What's got you so distracted? You've barely touched my skin darling."
My heart ached at his words. I wanted to..love him.
"I'm feeling quite offended," he finished, sighing dramatically, his hand stroking my hair as he gently tilted my head to the side to expose my neck.
I wanted to have him, and not as casually as he expected from all his conquests before me.
"Maybe I should teach you a lesson."
This part always got to me. Astarion always made it hard not to swoon but I couldn't let my exterior crack.. Not yet.
Ugh.
It was only Act 1 after all.
