Chapter 43: Backfired

It was Steve. "Steve! I didn't you there.", said Kate, in embarrassment. "You know what? You can continue with your talk.", said Steve, as Kate turned red in embarrassment. "By the way, Stone. Cody was asking for you.", he said, as Stone turned to him, "I'll just tell him, that you're busy with Kate-", "No need!", Stone interrupted Steve, "I'm coming.", he said, "Me too.", said Kate, as she got ready to get up, "Where do you think you're going?", said Stone.

"What do you mean?", "You're sick!", said Steve, "Stay here, or Cody'll kill ME.", said Steve, as the two left Kate. Caleb entered the room, and Kate hatched a plan to tease him. "Oh, my god! Look who's here.", "I'm here to give you your meds.", he said, as he handed a tablet to Kate. "I don't mind a talk!", she said, as Cale b sat in front of her.

"You know...", continued Caleb, "I wanted to talk to you.", said Caleb. "Wow! You look serious.", said Kate as she smiled. "I AM serious.", he said, as Kate came near him. "Really?", she whispered into his ears. "Maybe.", he whispered back, and Kate was taken aback.

She was supposed to tease him, but she ended up being teased. "Are you trying to-", "Tease you?", said Caleb, "Yes, I am.". He came near Kate, and she blushed. "That's how you do it.", he whispered, as Kate's eyes widened. "Do you-", "Maybe I do.", he said, as Kate turned red. She thought, for a second, that Caleb was serious, but he was only teasing her.

"You look beautiful today.", "Only today?", she asked, "No.", he continued, "You look beautiful every day, every hour, every minute, and every second.", he said, as Kate found his words sweet. "That's sweet.", she said, "You know what's more sweet?", asked Caleb, as he smirked. "I-I don't want to know.", she said, knowing that he was teasing her.

"Why?", he asked, "Please stop teasing me...", she said in a childish tone. Caleb smiled and came back. "You still want to talk?", asked Caleb, as Kate's face turned red. She covered it with her blanket and shook her head. The moment he left, Cody entered. "Kate?", he called out, as she was busy processing what just happened.

"Kate!", he called out again, and she didn't respond, and just stared at her blanket awkwardly. Then Cody sat in front of her. "Kate do-", "Cody, if I wasn't your sister, what would you do?", she asked, as Cody got confused. "Tell me!", she said, as Cody hesitated. "Well, you're kind, beautiful, sweet and... A lot more... So, probably... Like you?", he said, as she blushed even more. "Uh, why do you ask?", he asked, as he knew, something had happened.

"No reason!", she said, as she got up, and went to the bathroom, leaving Cody awestruck. She went to the bathroom, locked the door, and looked at herself in the mirror. "Am I... That naive?", she questioned herself. Just then, she felt something coming and put her face in the sink to vomit. After she was done, she looked at the sink, and there was blood all over the sink. "Not again...", she said.

She came out feeling weak and dizzy due to loss of blood, where she met Caleb. "Caleb... Hey...", she said, as she gazed at him with dizzy eyes. "Is that... Blood?", he asked, "What?!", she said, as she ran to the bathroom again. She wiped the blood off her face, and came out, to find Caleb waiting for her.

"We planned to go out today, in the evening.", "Wow! That's...", she stopped, as she grabbed Caleb's T-shirt, and started waving in the air. Caleb caught her before she fell. "Kate? Are you okay?", asked Caleb, "I'm fine... I just... From yesterday, and all...", she said, as Caleb understood everything. "You're not going anywhere. Stay at home and rest.", "No, please! I want to go!", she said, as Caleb glared at her.
