Chapter 69: Jealousy Strucks

"Ugh, whatever!", "Let's go through everything; Kate stays in Lower Manhattan, Caleb in Jersey City, and I, in Brooklyn. Okay?", "Yeah.", said Caleb and Kate together. "It would take only 15-30 mins to travel from here to there, so drop by if there is an emergency and ONLY an emergency. If you drop by, let me know. It would be better to call.", "We get it, Stone.", said Caleb.

"Alright. It'll take at least 5 hours to reach Jersey City-", "Why're we going to Jersey first? Why not Manhattan?", asked Caleb. He knew Kate and Stone would be alone when they left him at his apartment. "Because it's the closest.", "Mmhmm...", said Kate, as she munched on some chips. "Why do you want to go to Manhattan first?", asked Stone. Caleb couldn't reveal that he was actually 'jealous' of them being alone in one car, in a journey of 1 hour after they leave him.

"I wanted to go to Empire State.", he made something up. "It would take 10 minutes extra.", said Kate. "Oh, then... Never mind...", Caleb knew he couldn't do anything, after what Kate had suspected, and Stone's death stare from the rearview mirror. "We're going to Jersey City, then Manhattan, and then Brooklyn.", he said, as he drove.

4 hours had passed, and they finally reached Jersey City. "Give me a call when you reach to your apartment.", "You too.", said Kate. They said their goodbyes and set off for Manhattan. "There would be traffic on our way, so it could take an hour.", "An HOUR in traffic?", asked Kate in shock. "An hour for us to reach Manhattan.", said Stone. 10 minutes had passed, and there was still an awkward silence in the air. Kate didn't talk to Stone because she was angry with him, and Stone simply didn't care. Or so was JUST his expression...

Kate had been sitting for so long, that she was slightly impatient. She felt a little anxious like she was trapped. She felt a little breathless. "Can we... Slow down for some time...", she continued, as she breathed. Stone looked at her and noticed her hands, which were shaking. "Why are you shivering?", "Please stop the car...", Stone immediately stopped the car, and Kate got off.

The moment she got off, she felt alive again. She stayed there for some time, which worried Stone, Did she vomit blood again? Is she having a panic attack again? Is she going to run away again? There were many questions in his head, and he got off to check up on her. "Are you okay? Do you need water?", "Yeah, that would help...", Stone instantly got a bottle of water. She had some and handed the bottle to him. "I was just-", she suddenly choked and coughed, and covered her mouth. "Oh no.", Stone looked at her.

The next thing he knew, he had grabbed Kate's face with one hand and rubbed her back with the other. "It's okay, breath in, breath out.", he rubbed her back, and she looked at him. They stood there for some time. "I'm fine now...", said Kate, but Stone didn't move, and just stood there. "Stone, I said I'm-", then suddenly, he grabbed her waist and pulled her in for a hug!

Her eyes widened, she didn't know what to do, and they just stood there. "Stone-", "I'm sorry.", he said in a normal, yet sad tone. "What do you mean-", he pulled away. "We have to go.", he said, as he sat in the car, and Kate followed him, in shock and confusion, after what had just happened. They still had 50 more minutes to travel, so Kate lay down on the back seat.

She woke up to noises after 20 minutes. "What's going on?", "Traffic.", "Doesn't seem like traffic...", she woke up rubbed her eyes, and saw a crowd at a distance. She wanted to know what had happened, so she opened the door's handle, only to be stopped by Stone.
