Chapter 4: The medal~

Amelia is this really bubbly and energetic girl, and you can completely forget that she's actually older than you. She's a kid at heart. So, I just casually told her, 'Your friend won a medal, right? Congratulate him on my behalf.'

She nodded and at that very time Theo decided that it was the perfect time to make an appearance. I was literally an idiot for doing this but then I didn't realize until it was too late. I pointed at him and said, 'That's him, right?'

She nodded but then she grabbed my arm and started dragging me towards him. I remember her words so clearly till now. She went like, 'Well, now that he is here, why don't you go congratulate him yourself? Come, I'll take you to him.'

Oh boy, how scared I was because she was not at all kidding, and she actually started dragging me towards him. What made me even more freaked out was that both his friends were right there! (Including the scary one.)

'Come on, you can just tell him yourself.' I said, trying to convince Amelia to take me back but then she just hits me with, 'Don't worry, he's a really a sweet guy.'

I was freaking out so bad and I even tried telling her that it was fine, and she could tell it herself, but she had suddenly become deaf, and it was too late. I was already in front of him.

So, I thought, 'Well, it's too late now bish. Don't act like a chicken in front of him and be confident. Don't be weird in front of him!'

And I'm so happy that was my thought process instead of some cringey shy girl shit.

I smiled at him coolly and managed to say, "Oh, Amelia just brought me here because I wanted to congratulate you." And I went to shake his hand. That stupid idiot wasn't even reacting, so I literally just grabbed his hand myself and shook it.

I took the opportunity to get a feel of his hand. His hand had a lot of wrinkles, so my first thought was that it was rough. It was pretty warm and thank God it wasn't sweaty or something. His hand was obviously bigger than mine but not so large that my hand is like an ant compared to his or something.

It was so normal but still so exhilarating for me. It felt so right for my hand to be in his. But so that he doesn't feel uncomfortable I pulled away.

That stupid idiot was still in a daze and only murmured a small 'thank you' when Amelia scolded him. Meanwhile, Paulina and Scarlett were standing a little distance away and were snickering like idiots. I felt so embarrassed but just gave one last smile and left.

And after that, the whole time he was there in the ground I kept on catching him looking at me. I had made a score, finally.

It was no easy having a crush on a senior and at the same time it had its own perks. Hard, because I couldn't see him too often.

The perks were that there would be no rumors because he was from a completely different class and as we didn't interact much it would leave no room for rumors. I was happy about that.

I hate rumors. Not only because they're baseless and stupid but also because my friend suffered a lot because of rumors. (That's a story for another time.)

I was just so into him, and my friends were right there, supporting me so I felt happy. During lunch we would first observe where he sat and then we would settle down just a little distance away. And they did that just so I could see my crush.

A crush was all it was at that time.

It was a similar case that day.
