chapter 4

In green hill, a yellow streak goes over hedgehog pass. The steak curves under the pass and hop over a small rock. It zooms from tree to tree and break through a bigger rock and serves over the grass to break other rocks. A black figure spins with a yellow streak in its weight and flies high in the air then lands, sending bits of rock flying. Shadow stands with a scowl on his face and turns then speeds off. He leaps at another rock then shatters it . He leaps again and destroys another rock. He looks around and runs through another one. Ahead of him, a green jewel floats.

"Chaos emerald" He delicately took the gem and brought it close, the emerald green gleamed in his ruby gaze as he grinned.

"There you are"

He raised the emerald high above his head. "CHAOS CONTROL"

Shadow vanishes then reappears on the pass. He skates on top of the grass and slides to a stop. He looks around and notices the flickies fly upward. Shadow looks down to see pebbles on the grass shaking. He then looks ahead to see a giant glowing sparking shockwave heading toward him. He braced himself for impact as the trees around him were blown over.

An image of space, flew into his head. Several fragment of rock were reflecting ghostly luminescent shades of purple that faded out into the void, save for one that was shining bright red. He saw hus own two hands reaching out for the core of light, which was swirling about in a sphere of blue electric.

Hus eyes opened after the glitch blue particles flew over him. His usual solid expression turn into a scowl.

"Sonic"

Shadow speeds through green hill again  as his yellow streak flashes between palm trees and rocks. Some distance ahead, gold rings float in lines as sonic collects them in full speed. His blue streak and shadow yellow one head towards each other. Sonic sees shadow and screams and couldn't stop himself as shadow punches him into the air.

"So, I know what you're thinking" Sonic mentally narrated in midair, even though he just got punch in the jaw. " Sonic has a twin brother? Well, no. This guy right here is shadow, and he's kinda my biggest rival. He's also a real buzzkill. And by the way: he roller skates."

Shadow turns to the watchers as he skates. "They're air shoes."

Back to them as sonic falls on the ground. He gets up and looks at him in shock.

"Shadow?!"

"What did you do?" Shadow demanded, marching towards him. This left sonic rather baffle.

"What did I do? Eggman's the bad guy, remember?"

"You literally shook the world."

Sonic side-flipped over a speeding shadow and absorbed the fallen rings. "That's cause I'm good~" He stupidly smigged before grabbing a ring and holding it up in a superhero pose. "And powerful apparently. Jealous?"

Sonic speeds off as shadow teleports behind him and started to chase him.

"Maybe my winning disrupted your brooding? Or is it sulking? That's a word, right?" Sonic said as shadow spins up and land in front of him.

"You need to stop, sonic and listen for once!" Shadow said

But Sonic don't listen at all and zoom past shadow. Shadow look annoyed and started to chase him again as they speed around palm trees and bushes. Shadow skates up on the path and jumps on sonic, who goes flying.

"Whoa! Whoa! Whoa!" Sonic said as he landed running

But unfortunately he trips on a rock and runs on his hands instead. He look upside down and sees shadow still chasing him. He looks ahead and sees big rocks and spins over them. Shadow plows through them. Sonic turns quick at the wall and shadow runs on it and skates up on the path again. He jumps in front of sonic, who spins behind him. Shadow spins around the tree and hits sonic, causing rings to fall out of him. Sonic slams into another tree and loses more ring.
